They're just having conversations amongst themselves, Jared thought casting away the others. Jared grabbed his bow, and fastened the quiver to his back. He ran back towards a dark corner, where he wouldn't be seen. The chapel was perfect for climbing. It had ridges and grips, everywhere he needed one. He climbed up to a ledge, hidden in the dark. Jared looked out towards the Nord.
It looked different from this angle. Almost peaceful as the man on the floor lay still, the Nord standing, like a guardian, and the woman finally given up with screaming and squirming. The man was trapped, the church wall to his back and the guards on every other side of him. Good, that will make for an easier shot. I won't have to worry about accidentally hitting a guard, not that I would ever miss, Jared thought, surprised at his boastful thought. He pondered a while, amazed that the standstill was still going on. No one below him looked like they were going to make a move.
Jared nocked a barbed arrow. He pulled back, aiming for the man's thigh. He let the arrow fly. It flew straight and true, burying its head deep into the Nord's thigh. The Nord roared in pain. Thinking the guards had began to attack, the Nord shouted, "IF I DIE, SHE DIES!", while lifting his sword, and slitting the woman's throat. For a moment nothing happened, but then the Nord's blade left her throat a shimmering red. Her neck spurted blood. It covered the Nord, herself, and the floor around them. She was dead, her clothes stained with blood. An innocent woman dead because of him. Jared felt rage, pure untouched rage. His blood raced through his veins and he hammered his fists against the wall. He wanted to avenge her, and make it right.
I shouldn't care. I'm a heartless thief who does heartless things. I steal, I plunder, I murder. The word murder stayed in his head, controlling his thoughts.
The guards started to advance. The Nord dropped the woman, yelling battle cries, as he plunged into the crowd of guards.
