Famous Actors in Skyrim

Post » Mon Nov 30, 2009 8:51 pm

I hated talking to Martin in Oblivion because his unique voice made him stand out so dreadfully from the 4 other voice actors in Oblivion. If you want celebrity voice actors, just balance it out better.

As long as the voice acting is decent, I don't really care if the actor is or most likely was famous or not.

Dammit I was going to post something like that. XD

But yes please, Christopher Lee is awesome. Hearing him voice a villain would be great.

I'd love to see Gerard Butler, Christopher Lee, and Jennifer Hale. However, a varied voice cast would probably be better than a famous one.

How about going the opposite direction and having the beggars voiced by real homeless wino's? Just don't let the unions know!

I'd lose the voice acting completely (or confine it to voice-over for the into movie). It would make modding the game easier, as you'd not be trying to match a voice when you add dialog to an existing character.

This.

No idea about you, but I'd like to see Gureryne Selvilo (the actress, not the healer in Chorrol) again, and maybe even meet the famous Tarvus Beleth which we sadly missed in Mournhold ...

I really really hope they spend less money on hiring big name famous movie actors and instead hire more GOOD actual voice actors. Don't get me wrong, Patrick and the others were great (though his part was extremely short).

The main problem is that when you hire big-known actors, you don't "hear" the character, you hear the person behind tihe voice. When you heard Patrick talking, did you PICTURE it as Patrick, or the king?

With a good talented voice actor, someone like say, Maurice LaMarche, Rob Paulsen, JIm Cummings, Mark Hamill (yes that Mark Hamill), etc you get people who can bring THAT character to life, to give that character their own voice. You don't hear them talking and go "oh, that's Mark Hamill and Rob Paulsen." You just get lost in the character. The good thing about actual voice actors also is that they change drastically change their voice, for the price it cost to hire Patrick Stewart to voice a single character for 5 minutes you could hire someone who could voice even MORE then one character and not even be able to tell that it's the same person doing the voice.

Look at Maurice LaMarche, on Futurama he voices Kif, Cauclon, Morbo, along with a ton of small roles on the show for characters that aren't in it but a few times.

No big names, but instead, many many talented voice actors, whom do not require a lot of money. Bethesda gets a variety of voices, and we don't have to suffer through every elf sounding the same.

I'm going to go out on a limb here and ask that we get the best voice in all the world:

BRIAN BLESSED!!!!!

Think of the awesome lines we'd get:

"Dovahkiin's Alive!"
"First Dragon Wing, DIIIIIIIVVEE!!!"
"IS THERE ANYONE IN SKYRIM THAT HAS NOT SLEPT WITH MY DAUGHTER?!?!?"
"Chiswick, Fresh DRAGONS!"

:slap:

But hell Max is in there already so lets hope he did for the cost of the limo ride to the studio and they got loads of voice actors this time

Wes Johnson, Jeff Baker, and other infinitely cheaper, yet better (in my opinion), video game voice actors

No. Famous real life actors are terrible for voice acting. The best kind of voice actors are the actual proffessional voice actors. They know how to emote with thier voices. This is a quote-ish (from memory) from, I think, Billy West. Occasionally, some know what to do (Morgan Freeman, for example), but, more often than not, the proper actors are better.

Though, I would like to see Billy West star.

Or perhaps Bethesda could invent some kind of... capacitor... that requires a jolt of 1.21 gigawatts, and a 88mph speed (I may just be rambling... Or quoting), to go back and get Mel Blanc. :3

But really, if you watch any of the best cartoons (Looney Tunes, most stuff form the 90's, Spongebob) you'll know what I mean.

I really don't care about hearing famous people in Skyrim. They'll charge more and that money would be better spent on more voice actors in total.

But in the spirit of the question:

I want the next annoying Bosmer to be voiced by Gilbert Gottfried.

Get Zachery Levi (Arcade Gannon) to do it and advertise the game on the TV show he stars in, Chuck

EDIT: He also did a great job in Tangled (male lead)

None, get unknown voice actors so Beth can stretch their budget efficiently. If I had to choose one I'd choose Mark Hamill (Luke Skywalker) since he's a very talented voice actor who has lots of professional experience.

I'd like to hear a more diverse cast for voicing the races. So not having one voiceactor doing both Nords and Orcs, or one voiceactor doing Bosmer, Dunmer and Altmer. If at the end they still have budget left for a few 'big names' then I'm all for it. Provided they know how to voiceact. But if Fallout 3 and New Vegas are any indication, I think we are going in the right direction :)

And I love Felicia

Add Felicia day as some elf complaining about the state of skyrim, with new complaints based on how you effect the world.

The voices in Oblivion were awful. Stewart was the best and died too soon. I do not agree that voice actors are not important and that money should be spent elsewhere, should be spent on MORE AND BETTER ACTORS. The game needs very good voices, voices that can actually fit the story. Many voices for each race. Just go and scout young actors at theatre colleges, there must be a lot of enthusiastic and gifted people, anf way cheaper.
