They don't need to be famous, but I do think they need to take this seriously. Bad voice acting and poorly scripted dialogue are amongst the last remaining crimes of the video game. It's improved a lot in recent years, but your average game still sounds hopelessly amateurish in comparison to even a bad film.

Don't care if they're famous or not, really. I just want the writing and variety of voices to be better.

But if I could pick some celebrities, I would first pick Gerard Butler. I think he would be perfect for a Nord. :liplick:

I thought Boromir played Martin Septim very well.

I could feel the anxious anticipation, and the probable failure in his voice, throughout Oblivion, but also the calm, steady tone of a born Septim- ahem, Leader.

You know his name isn't actually Boromir right?

The whole voice-acting thing is over-rated, in my opinion. If they did away with it altogether, they would have more room for content. I know that won't happen, so if there has to be voice acting, I would rather see more variety, from voice-actors who cost less. Have more than one actor for each of the races, etc... The voice acting would seem less repetitive, and immersion breaking. The big name actors are money pits; they cost more than they're worth.

Yes and I'm sorry you don't want to be my friend. :)

Great acting is done by the best actors and the ones who have become famous did that because they are great actors. The tiniest inflection in their voice can mean so much. I'm playing Fallout New Vegas right now and the difference is huge from other games. There are all levels of actors and a great number of them in the game and when you run into one and hear their voice, it's like finding an old friend. I've also become a fan of two actors that I wasn't really familiar with and glad I did because their work is great in the game. Bethesda is going to make a huge number of Septims from Skyrim and I'm fine with great actors getting good jobs and sharing in that. It's going to make it better for *me*.... :)

No. Waste of money. Which goes for the famous voice actors AND the cheap ones. Utter waste of money.

I agree. I may be one of few, but I prefer the silent dialogue of Morrowind. Among other things, it makes mods fit in better.

A famous actor doesn't mean he/she's suitable to voice video games.

You have me stumped. How on this good world do you know her name!

Famous voice actors does not always equal quality voice actors.
More actors, less famous ones, but still very good ones, is a much better choice.

Sometimes it's really cool to suddenly hear a famous movie actor talking in the game, but usually I really don't care. They should spend their money on making the voice acting as diverse as possible, and to make the quality much better.

I don't mind having a couple in there that you actually recognize. But for voice acting in general, I say it's better to go with quantity rather than quality and no variation.

No voice actors at all (except for the standard greetings and such). Spend the money on story and diversity of dialog. Most people can read, no need to for VA's to say what you can read yourself.

sorry but you probably won't EVER be seeing this in any game release apart from expansions to old mmo's. Even new MMO's are going fully voiced.

Which is unfortunate, because it allows mods to blend in better. Now you'll need to find (quality) voice actors to properly integrate mods. :(

Make certain characters voiced by famous actors but not a whole race...

No need for big "voices" here, much rather have lots of different types of voices than a few.

Voice acting totally breaks from immersion for me. Nothing forces you out of a game more than having to sit back and wait for someone to recite their lines. At least with text dialogue you're forced to be actively engaged in the conversation, even if you're just skimming. VtMB is particularly bad with this excessive voice acting, to the point where I don't know if I can really be bothered playing on. "Less talk, more action".
