Fan Fav NPC's That You Hated

Post » Tue Jan 26, 2016 4:58 pm

There are certain NPC's that seem to be loved by most that for whatever reason, I just couldn't stand or warm up to. So I thought I'd make a list of them, and reasons for not liking them.

Brynjolf - I couldn't stand this guy from the minute I met him in Riften and he stalked me all over the market until I finally listened to his stupid sales pitch. Even after doing the TG missions, I still ended up not liking him. What makes him even more intolerable is when I walk past him (with no intention to speak to him) and he tells me, "Sorry lad, I've got important things to do." Like What, Bryn? Walk over and stare at that grinding wheel for 15 minutes?

Vex - She's just rude and useless.

Sapphire - Also rude and useless.

Cicero - His voice is like nails on a chalkboard to me.

Aela - This one seems to be the popular choice to marry if you play a werewolf. But I don't like her. She's not attractive (if you're looking above neck) and the way she speaks is goofy, in my opinion. She's also kind of snotty when you first meet her. I remember my first encounter with her in my first play through. I was coming from Riverwood on my way to Whiterun and see some folks fighting a giant in the distance. I sprinted up to them as fast as I could but they'd already killed it long before I got into range. Then she walks up to me and barks out, "Well that's taken care of. NO THANKS TO YOU." You know what? Just die, Aela.

Sheogorath - I felt they tried too hard for the Mad Hatter feel and fell short.

Ulfric - While I tend to support the Stormcloaks, I really can't stand Ulfric, and wish I could join the Stormcloaks, but still kill him. The way he's presented in the game is really bad. I don't know if that was on purpose or just an oversight, but he comes off as snide and condescending when he's speaking. He also gives me the impression he really doesn't care one way or the other about who's right or wrong, so long he can advance his station.

Astrid - I was actually surprised to find out she was a fan fav. She's rotten, power hungry, disloyal, vindictive, not to mention she kidnaps you while you're sleeping. After my first play through of doing the DB missions, all my subsequent play throughs end up with me killing the DB just because I hate Astrid.

Hadvar - This is another one that surprised me. How can you like this guy? He was about to have your head cut off! Sorry, but the "Just doing my job" excuse doesn't work with me.

Anyone else have some fan fav NPC's that they hate?

Nazeem - pompous, deserves 1000 deaths

Heimskr - preaches of Talos and does NOT shut up.

Brynolf - I chop wood for a living yet I "have never worked an honest dat"

I don't like Serana or Mjoll. I actually have a long list of npc's I don't like but those two are top of my list.

Serana. If I wanted to listen to a child complain 24/7 about everything in existence I would watch anything on Mtv or better yet I would have a kid. For some strange reason everyone who ever touched the DLC has some weird fetish for annoying tweens with daddy issues it seems and I've never been able to understand why

Sheogorath. I didn't like the character in Shivering Isles and my time with him in Skyrim did nothing to change my opinion.

Nazir.

Every time he opens his mouth, all I hear is... "This is Three Dawg... owwww"

I had to make a mod to replace him with a mute Imperial just to advance the questline.

Sheogorath and Cicero for me, for the reasons above. Also it seems they have the most amount of dialogue.

Sheogorath, Cicero, Brynjolf. I got enough of Sheo from the Shivering Isles expansion. Cicero's grating and Brynjolf...well, I don't see the appeal. He looks better dead. *shrugs*

Didn't know Vex and Sapphire were *fan favorites.*

Meridia. She's not only holier than thou, she's holier than herself.

Yea, Meridia is probably my most disliked character in the entire series.

I thought most players hated them. At least that's the impression I get from reading this forum.

I doubt that either Nazeem or Heimskr are fan favourites though =)

I can't really come up with a npc that I outright dislike, even the annoying ones I like for being annoying. Which npcs my characters dilslike will vary somewhat betweens playthroughs.

I didn't like Nocturnal. I don't see what the appeal is.

Most likely the appeal is her outfit revealing her two biggest assets. :glare: Fan favs are typically fantasy fodder.

I have a long list of NPC's that I would just as soon see dead but at the top is:

Brynjolf- just show up at the Riften marketplace...you'll understand.

Serana-will not shut-up...even when surrounded by Draugr or Falmer.

Neloth-Insufferably rude and arrogant.

Most all Guards....ungrateful louts...I don't even like sweetrolls and it seems like they all "took an arrow" to their knees.

Heimskr - ppl here have said they like him, but I have a habit of killing him mid-sermon. Annoys the heck out of me. In one playthrough I got a critical with a two handed sword and his head came off in slow motion and bounced into the little creek that goes through the square (or "town round" would be more descriptive).

Marcurio - he's a pompus ass. I hired him one time as a steward, but I got annoyed by him chatting up my wife too much (I'm only sixist in Skyrim, btw). So, I fired him. With a double wielded flame spell. That put an end to his narcissistic self aggrandizing.

Lydia - I know, people love her. But I find her unappealing, unattractive and uninteresting. First off, that steel armor is ugly as sin on anyone and it makes her look kinda butch in my opinion. So here I go being sixist again. Sorry for that. It's just that here's this macha Nord sword-woman following me around and judging me with her eyes whenever I go into sneak mode. I feel like she looks down on me, even if she doesn't say it in so many words, and she doesn't have any respect for my pansy-[expletive] magic using elf character.

and I forgot to mention Serana:

Yes, I know, she's beloved. And, absolutely, the did a great job with voice acting and the whole bit. . . . But, I don't like her. She annoys me. I'm old and I don't have much patience for teen angst and teen family "problems". I mean, like, I'm trying to take out a vampire cult the aims to blot out the sun. They want to the blot the very sun out and rule the world so humans become blood pvssyl for them! And all the while, she's droning on and on and on and on about her daddy and her mommy and how they don't love her enough to buy her a car. I just want to yell, "Shut the [expletive] up, and go see a [expletive] therapist!"

Yeah, I guess I have issues. She is nice and everything. I just don't like her.
