Fan fiction/Rp of '09

Post » Mon Aug 09, 2010 3:05 pm

The voting for best this-or-that of '09 is over, but just because we know what the best individual things were, there are a few things that cany be judged, thus I have created this thread where everyone can talk and reminisce about the year. The good and the bad RP's, the best and the worst times of the year. The amazing ideas that never took off.

Talk about your sucesses and failings as a writer, you faverote and least faverite pieces of work (With links, please). Talk about you faverote moments with other RP'ers, you collaboration to create something great. Talk about your future plans as a writer and RP'er, toss around ideas for the next year.

And to dennote your support( Or opposition) of my idea to advocate the creation of a "General Artwork And Fan Fiction" section to be put into the forums by adding something to that affect to your signature, and voting in the Poll.

By "General rtowark and Fan Fiction" I mean an area fot things not related to bethesda softworks games. Either based off of another game, show, or anime, or your own original ideas. Lets face it, the old topics have been beat to death, so until another fallout or elder scrolls game comes out to revitalize things soon, we need more topics.

Every RP I joined has died. Am I a curse?

I RP'ed here mostly when the year began so I'm not to upto date, but now I have more time to do this and I haveRP idea that I thought I might throw out there for next year that we could try (if it's good):
What would happen if the Mother Ship Zeta got to do it's mission? Would the wastelanders be forced to fight off a alien invasion? Would they have to lead attacks on alien ships? Would the aliens try to destroy the wasteland or would they try to inslave it? Would the Enclave and BoS still struggle against each other or would they join together to fight the new menace?
Just a thought I had literally 1 minute ago, so whatcha think? (I put this here because it says ideas for next year.) What do you guys think?

RobCo, the suicide thing was a joke option not meant to be chosen.

As far as the Rp idea goes...it would be hard to pull off, but it would be fun if you could get it to take off. I would definitely put Jansen in. No resistance against anything is complete without my pseudo-psychopathic Mercenary leader.

Yeah, I think it'd be super hard to do as my "reactivater RP" so I might hold off on it but think about it if enough people say they might do it.

(P.S. I didn't select suicide, I selected Yes.)

Now before I vote, I just want to make clear exactly what you think a 'General Fan Fic' Section would be? Are we saying stories that wouldn't have anything to do with Fallout or TES, and just be stories we've written that have nothing to do with either, and are basically just our own imaginations of our own 'worlds' or something like that?

I was thinking the same thing. If he means, both TES and Fallout in the same section. HELL NO. But as for the other possibilities, not quite sure how I feel.

I liked this year to be quite honest. Most of the RP's I was in either died when they were getting good, or we had 2 REALLY bad RP'ers who had 1 lined conversations that took up 4 pages and forced everyone to quit because they were moving the thread so [censored] fast.

I never got into the Fan Fics though, loved quite a few RP's.

I roleplayed here a little in June, but once I left and went to the Elder Scrolls, I will occasionally look in here and lurk. I think it's getting worse as the year progresses, in June it wasn't great, but wasn't bad either. I think this year could've been much better if people slowed down a little bit, gave more backstory for RP's, and in fanfics were far more descriptive.

I hope in Fanfiction/RP of '10, we're all saying about how many great RP's there were, how many people have gotten better, how many fanfics made us feel right there with the protagonist. That's my hope for this forum and its RP's. I think this forum can be a lot better if people slowed down on RP's, put time into posts, and worked harder on fanfics.

Overall, I think it was ok this year. A general RP forum would be bad. Well, I wish happy holidays.

As Zalphon said, it's deteriorated as the years gone along. This board inparticular has lost a lot of talent over the year and it's slowly being drained of it's quality. While there are still a handful of ingenious ideas and skilled writers, you've got to admit, the ideas, skill and pleasure is being squeezed out of this RP board slowly. When I left, this board was full of great stuff, but now, it's just not as full. I can only hope a new year will bring new ideas, new talent and more fun.

I didnt elaborate, I just tacked the idea on there. By a "General Fan Fiction" section, I mean having nothing to do with either, be it another game, show, or anime, or a totally new idea. I would NEVER mean the two put together. That would be the combination of fire and ice. In the end, all you get is some lukewarm water.

A also have a comment about the year. Though I wasnt in that many good RP's this year, I came a bit too late for that and missed my chance to join SCAR(I know, I'm an idiot) there were planty of RP's and fan fics composed of pure Kick@ssery. Kings of the Wasteland, SCAR, Accounts of an Arthropod, Letters from the Mall(Before it became a spam-fest).

It seems we too often forget the good and instead opt to think of the bad.

This year seemed okay.

Wish I could participate in Rp's but my damn time zone seems incompatible.

I joined this site back in July just for the Fallout parts. And, since I got here the activity dropped a helluva lot. I remember a phase when I was the only person to even lurk. I never saw anyone else, ever! D:

And I joined every RP that interested me, and had at least one story that people liked (hopefully I'll raise that number :P). It was a good first year, I gotta say.

Firstly I edited the poll. I removed the silly option, and if you want to gain a warning, go ahead and add the censor avoidance back, either that or read the forum rules - OK.

Secondly, there will not be any general fan fiction or artwork forum, not only are there plenty out there in other sites, but there is a topic here in Community Discussion for fan fictions and general text based stuff such as poetry, and there is also an ESF artistry thread to show off general artwork.

Yeah, I enjoyed the beginning of the year. (end of '08 till March '09) There were lots of people, who were bursting with deep intricate stories, and characters that didn't just say a thing here or there; they made them try to be a person you could know. But all of those people are gone, and I'm the only one still around to say anything about it. Anyway, I don't know about the time I was gone, but I can guess that it dropped over the time; and people just weren't putting effort into their work. (Not a lot anyway.)

The good, was that we've got new ideas and people. Though I think more intricate RP stories need to be done. (It really helps, that's why my RPs in the past are so well know was because I wasn't just unique, but I also put effort into how deep the story was. Also, support others with their stories and Rps. Because when you make an RP or story, and no one joins. You'll understand why there's a need to support everyone doing work here.) Anyway, some good RPs were some that you can find buried DEEP in the pages of the forum.

Well I came to these forums in June and I joined for Oblivion only, but after playing Fallout 3 I thought I would come to the Fallout Section and well, obviously I liked it :D. But when I joined people were fairly active and I was in my first RP (ON THESE FORUMS!) which was Vault 34. After that died I made a RP called The Wasteland and it was succesfull, it was really great, two threads I think it was. It was a really good starter for me, but then it died, then I made the RP that has won RP of 09, The Manhattan War. And that was an awesome RP, after that I made Manhattan War 2.

After Manhattan War 2 I made the following that never sucseeded, The Capital Wasteland, Point Lookout, Vault 111, The Island, Untitled, The Capital Battle, Edmonton, Vault 44, Fallout Clue, and The Assassins.

The only RP's that I had that turned out are, Roamers, The Manhattan Wars, and the current Manhatan War. I did not do much to help the forums in 09, but 2010 is a different story. I will improve. I promise. lol life story.

But overall the forums were not that great and not that bad.

I joined a while ago and I have been on and off in the forums from time to time and I have joined a few RPs here and there. There were many fanfics and RPs when I first joined and it seems that every once in a while there would be a wave of good writers and Rp hosts that would get things rolling again but then it would slow down before too long. I have seen some pretty good work here and all I think we need is a good group of people to get everything else going. 2009 wasn't the best all year but I think 2010 has some good potential for being even better.

The release of Fallout 3 and any fallout related materials has always been helpful as well to help ignite interest in the fallout universe as well. Sometimes I think good Rps die out because everyone is just waiting for someone else to post something good to roll the story along and some good ones I remember could have possible been successful if someone had just been able to make that one post. I can definitely think of how a single person can bring about a huge improvement for the forums, Francois Lachon signed up a while ago and to me it seemed like things got very active overnight with good works being created by many others who were inspired and motivated by the support of others in the forums. I hope 2010 would be a return to the good old days in the forums.

I would suppose I RPed on here too long ago (Read: more than three months.) for anyone to really remember me, but I certainly remember a handful of RPers and RPs. Dr. Strangelove, Francois Lachon, Mheree, Ribbotson, Last Best Hope, and others were all great writers, but sadly it seems that few are still around. There were all the Enclave RPs and a handful of Brotherhood ones, and several very creative ones made by a few. It was a good year at the start and near the middle, but since I left this section of the forum after that to go back to TES, I couldn't tell you of the end.
