Fantasy Level

Magic took a back seat, the whole saga was a vehicle for Tolkein to convey his awesome world to us imo, I hope you mean that you don't like Feist/Dragonlance in TES not in general
I actually have about ten of Fiest's novels (most were gifts); I liked them too, but I'm more of a fan of Conan or even "The Black Company" style worlds & stories. (Not to say that I like those kinds exclusively... just more often.) In TES... I honestly don't like the classless nature, and that everyone has spellcraft ~though I understand that its core design, and accept it.

Low Fantasy. Rare magic, logical world, no larger-than-life heroes without damn good explanation for their larger-than-lifeness.

Same here.

I think in a place like Skyrim, Low fantasy may fit well as the feel of the environment goes. However, by definition The Elder Scrolls is high fantasy, being set in an entirely fictional world, following its own rules, and having several sentient fantasy races like the mer and beast races. I think that trying to "lower" some of the fantasy elements in Skyrim would actually make it.... less like a Elder Scrolls feeling and going more towards a ... Hyborian world. So I would prefer to keep the high fantasy in the Elder Scrolls although I do like both.
