Fantasy Movie Trailer

Post » Mon Jul 05, 2010 10:46 pm

Since we are all still waiting for the arrival of the greatest game ever.

Here’s link to a fantasy movie trailer I created for my 3D artist portfolio that was partially inspired by the Elder Scrolls series. (I created it in Maya, Vue9, Photoshop, Combustion, and Music Creator).

http://vimeo.com/23544402

For those of you who have seen the first half of the trailer earlier this year (with the Morrowind theme song), I’ve taken the advice of the posters here and added some of the Skyrim theme song in the second half.

Brief background:
It has been years since the Dark Elves (Drow) nearly destroyed the entire Dwarven civilization and left it in utter ruin. Like a long awaited storm, the last surviving Dwarf-Lord (who is now immortal) now begins to unfold his wrath and fury by forging a weapon so powerful that it threatens to bring the known world to the brink of destruction.

What started as a 30 second idea for school turned into a personal project and ended up as a 3 minute movie trailer.

Music courtesy of Jeremy Soule.

Enjoy!

totally awesome, how did you do the fire? was it a particle system? it looks pretty awesome, and I would love to learn how to do the mountains, or even how to texture.

Thanks. I used fluid dynamics for the fire.

I had never thought of doing it that way, also I am just wondering how long did it take to render? I could imagine a while unless you have a render farm

I think the fire alone came out to something like 7 minutes per frame... 24 frames per second. The mountains took actually longer... 15 minutes per frame... that thing was running non-stop for weeks...

Cant wait until GPU rendering becomes available.
