So far so good, although a few issues...

Hi all,

(please don't take this post the wrong way - i'm trying to be constructive and I actually like this game!)

Well I should start by saying that I've always been buying Beth Software games since I played Oblivion back in 2006. I pretty much fell in love with that game, and ever since then I've been looking forward to almost any game that Beth have released. I played Fallout 3 and loved it, and now I've recently just purchased New Vegas.

I should start by saying that I can see real potential in this release, I've only played about 10-20 hours so far and I'm enjoying it alot *however* out of all the games I've played from Beth since Oblivion, I can't but help think this game is a little premature - I've suffered numerous bugs which have somewhat spoilt the flow and feel to this game. The biggest problem for me at the moment is that I'm forever falling into rocks, below the terrain, etc. If not me, then the creatures or NPCs that I'm attacking are falling through the world in to oblivion, or getting stuck in rocks or general world objects. I've lost count of the number of times I've got stuck inside a rock and had to load the most recent save. I just killed a scorpion and it fell through a rock, or somehow fell below and the VATS camera went crazy, trying to follow this object as it fell.

Other than collision issues, the biggest disappointment for me has been the graphics engine (don't mistake me, the game content is the most important thing for me, and it's excellent) but having just played Mass Effect 2, this game feels extremely "static" - the world is just boring, even in 1920x "Ultra" mode. I fully appreciate that it's set in a post-apocalyptic world and all that, but when then wind blows (and I'm sure it does) I expect the trees, branches and leaves to move, like they do in the gorgeous world of Farcry 2 or other games released since then. When I shoot at a building, wall or tree I expect to see damage, movement, anything! Instead I'm looking at a static blocky world that really doesn't impress and reminds me of Quake 2.

When I pan around in some parts of the world, I see the HDR wildly adjusting the aperature from dark to bright within 10 or 20 degrees of movement - if i turn a full 360 degrees it sometimes feels like a strobe light! Something has to be wrong here ;)

Anyway, please don't take this the wrong way! I like the game, I think it's a great piece of work. However it needs an urgent patch to get it up to standard :)
