Far Harbor settlements

Post » Sat Feb 27, 2016 7:25 am

I'm just wondering how many new settlements we will get in Far Harbor? Pretty pumped for new settlements to build up. I just hope they aren't settlements like Coastal Cottage, or they have big half demolished houses like Croup Manor. Hopefully we will get some interesting settlements like an ex army base or a church even.

I'm pretty sure we'll get at least one good settlement as they surely won't expect us to travel back and forth from the island to deposit our crap.

I'm hoping for a nice non destroyed location too.

I hope you get a ship that works like a settlement. You can design cabins, hire crew, modify the systems, etc.

I played twice through Daggerfall basically living out of my ship. That was fun.

I hope we get none. The game needs more established towns like Goodneighbor and Diamond City, not settlements that add nothing to the lore or story.

While I agree with "more lore, please," as well, I really like the idea of settlements as an option for gameplay. I would like to see Beth work on evolving the mechanic. Much of that will be trial and error. Based on the little info we have on Far Harbor, I wouldn't be surprised if it's settlement-free, though.

Honestly speaking, I don`t want any settlement that I BUILD anymore.

I have damn 28 of them right now, and it`s more than enough.

I want the DLC to have real town with real people... like Diamond City, Megaton or Rivet City.

I would LOVE such a ship in my game! There has been a disappointing lack of them since Daggerfall.

More story sure, but if there's not at least one settlement to dump and use your junk we would be forced to travel back and forth from the island.

I bet one of the quests is going to be "get defenses up" or something like it is with some of the other settlements.

I don't think people who do regular settlements and workshop settlements are even the same people. Actually, I'm not sure anyone even does workshop settlements: most of this work seems to be putting in the Workstation and defining the radius.

In other words, not mutually exclusive.

Correct! (Hands over a cookie.)

Now that it's there, it's not "mandatory" to use it a certain way...or even at all. Bethesda should certainly expand the functionality little by little as they go, ensuring it never becomes "required", directly or indirectly, for players to use it.

I hope whatever settlements they present to us in Farharbor presents an alternative to the Minutemen. Maybe even that if siding with the established settlements in Farharbor you can trigger a Civil War back in the Commonwealth between Preston and those loyal to the original ideal song the Minuteman and your new fist of iron ideology.

I think you should set sail for Far Harbor on 3 ships: the Baby Girl, the Spot, and the Hail Mary. A storm blows you out into the open sea, leaving you drifting for weeks. You manage to make your way to a bunch of islands somewhere south of the Florida Keys.

After the Great War, the indigenous peoples of Central and South America rebuilt their societies according to ancient traditions, and have been peacefully re-cultivating the land. One day, three ships appear in a remote bay, and they see strange men, wielding strange weapons, and wearing strange armor of steel making their way onto the shore. The leader of the strangers raises his hands and calls out something about "coming in peace".

The leader of the indigenous peoples throws up his own hands and calls back, "OH, FOR F**K'S SAKE!"

Well we know we are getting settlements. Its pretty unfair to hope for no settlements just cause you dont use/enjoy that part of the game.
