So who do you prefer, Fargoth or The Adoring Fan? If that's even possible

I have to admit I was never bothered by Fargoth. I gave him his ring and got better deals at the local store.

I don't get why everyone hates Fargoth. He loses lots of stuff to the greedy imperials. You can return his ring. He's not annoying in any way. Why is that cause for hate?

EDIT: Ninja'd.

I seriously don't get the big deal with Fargoth. I got to steal a groovy ring off him (twice) and get discounted prices with Arille!

Fargoth. At least he wasn't "Hey look at me! I'm an annoying Bosmer! hate me, hate me, hate me!!!".

Fargoth just weirded people out with his "you're my favourite friend" speech. Never atually got his hate. I guess it's just because it's fun to hate/bully him.

The bosmer in Oblivion had extremely annoying voices, and the adoring fan would tag along behind you pestering you. In Morrowind the voices were less anoying and you didnt have to see Fargoth much at all, he was just a little bit annoying. So my vote goes to Fargoth. I would prefer to face 20 Fargoths if it meant I could avoide one Adoring Fan.

All wood elves say that when they like you. They're just creepy that way.

Yeah, Fargoth doesn't follow me around and consciously harass me.

The Adoring Fan is like the Noober of Oblivion. Morrowind didn't really have a Noober and Daggerfall was pre-Noober.

Gaenor could be the Noober of Tribunal and is far worse than Fargoth and Adoring Fan put together. At least you can shut the Adoring Fan up easily enough with a small nudge off of dive rock or a blade to the skull.

I've never understood the Fargoth hate. I never saw him as annoying, and the fact that giving him his ring back got me a deal at the local trader was ascually pretty cool. The Adoring Fan is not only annoying but he's completely useless.

Besides, Gaenor is more annoying then both Fargoth and the Fan put together.

If you did not like the Adoring Fan then you had the option of making him wait anywhere in the world or send him to the arena district. You could have taken the Adoring Fan to a cave while his novelty lasted and then left him there.

Personally, I wasn't annoyed by either of them. The Adoring Fan is eccentric and hyperactive (we've all been there), and Fargoth is a friendly guy.

They're just characters that people love to hate.

I hope the Bosmer are taken a little more seriously in the next game, I hate role-playing as one and feeling obligated to run into the nearest death-trap screaming "By Azura!" while rattling off conspiracy theories and looking for my ring. The female Bosmer are almost never those weird, creepy, "don't look them in the eyes" kinds of people. They're a little eccentric sometimes, but they're not claiming the Blades want to kill them while making a death-list of people who think she's friendly/weird. They made the crazy Female Bosmer interesting, take Thamriel for example, she says some pretty cool things, same with Dagail. Hasathil's a two-faced two-timer (same as Heinrich), there's one in Cheydinhal who likes dogs more than people, there's Methredel who's completely normal, Carwen has dreams of a big future, Adanrel's sad and very aware of her surroundings, there's a Wood Elf in the Chapel in Anvil who's jealous of you.

But then you have the MALES, There's one in the IC who complains that he can't pass by a book store (not so bad), Thurindil's downright insane, Thoronir's very gullible (still not so bad), but then you get to the worse ones. Anguilon has a problem with everybody he meets and hates their guts, Athrelor's happy and "peachy keen" after Kvatch is burned to the ground in his introduction, Caenlorn ALWAYS asks you who he is of him and his Brother (and looks nothing like his "Twin"), Daenlin makes no sense, Enilroth's a little whiney brat, Erthor's a little scaredy cat and chooses the dumbest place to practice magic, Fithragaer commits violent suicide in an Ayleid trap, Glarthir... I won't even go there, Gwinas is pompous but really knows nothing about what he's getting himself into, Maglir's... :stare: Maglir, Uuras the Shepherd literally is in love with cheese...

And yeah, they've purposely made Bosmer men less likable than the Bosmer women and the kind of people you'd avoid at all costs. And then the Bosmer men kinda drag down the Bosmer women with them, and the whole race is labeled with a "Crazy" stereotype. I get that some of them turn a little... odd, if they're in too urban an environment, but there should be some serious and respectable Bosmer in the next game.

I personally like Glarthir and Maglir more. I like Glarthir better because he has one of the best quests in the early section of the game, and Maglir because he motivates me with "Payday! Let's Roll!"

But to answer your question, I liked The Adoring Fan better. I can have him follow me around into dangerous situations. He then alerts me to trouble by running away, and later encourages me by calling me The Grand Champion.

Fargoth, on the other hand, refuses to show me his hiding place, so I hate him for that. Plus he wants a ring back that I found, and is therefore mine.

Fargoth never bothered me. I gave him his ring back and got a discount. Then I stole his ring and his lifesavings just to be an a**hole.

-snip-

To be fair, it actually often (though, not always) really emphasizes thier wild ways. Bosmer are wild cannabalistic tribesmen that live in animal bones back home. I could imagine them being paranoid schizophrenics. Not exactly a friendly environment to grow up in. Though, the likes of the Adoring fan where ridiculous, and Oblivion went past too far with the "weird" label of Bosmer. Not every bosmer is like this. They actually have awesome lore, and Bethesda refuse to delve into it in character portrayal, for some reason.

Well, yeah. Like I said, I totally understand that when they're in crowded cities they're more likely to go insane, but like you said they over-did it a bit. It's hard to take a Bosmer in a quest seriously, 'cause you usually expect them to snap or do something that any normal human being wouldn't do like run into a trap even though everybody in his party had gone through there already.

I hate Fargoth. He never said that to me! :cryvaultboy:

But seriously, I like the Adoring Fan better. He's not all that annoying, because if he is you don't have to have him follow you. Plus, he respawns, and doesn't call the guards, making a good punching bag.

I prefer Fargoth. He helped get me discount prices merely for returning his stolen ring.
