Farming!

Post » Sat Jul 24, 2010 2:35 pm

Since Game Informer has said that Farming will be in the game.
I am wondering how the system will work.

How long will it take for crop to grow? Will you
have to deal with Bad weather?

Will you be able to buy and sell cattle?

In fact(and I know this is off topic) But will you be able to open up
a shop or vendor down by the Marketplace?

Thoughts?

Farming in the game? I have never heard this. Perhaps there might be a change where you can buy a small farm :)

I see it similar to the Harvest Moon series.

Well, except for the isometric cubed pixel-world, this is how i would see farming in Skyrim.

Anything the NPC's can do, apparently you can do according to Todd Howard. I would imagine the NPC's can farm, so you probably can also.

Those kinds of details have yet to be disclosed, a best bet though would be you help someone farm *which has been confirmed* for a job and he pays you and brings goods to market, now at your home/estate you might also have a farm which you might be able to hire people to work on or work on yourself and bring those goods, the actual details of how to farm such as tilling and planting we have no info on yet.

Anything from small(helping people harvest crops) to large (planting, tending harvesting) would be fine with me. I just hope it's not like previous ES game where you just pick it and it's magically in your inventory.

Well since Todd said that we can do whatever NPC's can.
That really makes me excited to see what we can do

Exactly, and if you have to go out of town for a while you will be able to ask your facebook friends to water your crops

Id love to have cattle in the game. Maybe at some point, you are asked to take over the family business and are given a farm as part of a quest.

You can then talk to other farmers in game and trade with them ,cattle and chickens and seeds. It would be like a fun minigame to do once in a while.

It is fun for alchemists (like myself).
But if you don't use alchemy much than having farm is more or less useless
Unless you want to be only grain supplier to nearest town :)

Thoughts?

Press "use" -> wait 72 hours -> press "use" -> repeat.

To tell the truth, if I wanted to tend to crops I'd go and get an account on Facebook to waste my nights away in happy farm or however it's called.

Fortunately for you, even in Skyrim you will not have to farm, though if you have a boyfriend I'm sure he could help you farm, or a girlfriend if you prefer.

I highly doubt watering the crops will be necessary. More likely, tending to the crops produces higher yields, or better plants.

Harvesting crops on NPC property should be considered stealing just like taking something from a shop.

Hopefully they'll have chickens!

Maybe we can get a job as a scarecrow to stop the dragons eating the crops :)

Sorry to say, but I think dragons are a bit braver than that.

Farming..... ehhhhh sounds tedious to me. If i really wanted some corn, i'll just kill people till i find someone with some on him! I guess it is good for the alchemists out there to create a fatigue potion out of some corn and watermelon.
