Fast Caps

Post » Mon Feb 15, 2010 8:14 pm

Just north of "Novac" there is a "Gibson's Scrap Yard" or somthing. If you have to kill her to get the "thrust sensor modules" becuase you dont have the caps to buy them from her. she should also have a "Big Boomer" its like a sawed-off 12 ga. worth like 1900 caps. Just thought i'd post that to try'n help anyone.

I previously posted this topic in Fallout 3 by accident... ;)

Hunting Rifles are also worth a bizarrely large amount of money for some reason.

Where can I find a Hunting Rifle? I have a ton of mods I want to put on it and stuff, but the only gun store that is selling; sells it for like 3300 caps which is absurd. Is there somewhere I can find one/steal one/kill someone for it?

Either way, I have a ton of mods for it already in my inventory, like a scope and what-not. I just don't have enough money to buy the thing, so does anybody know where I can find one? Or who to kill to get one?

I'm not 100% on this but I would assume the Super Mutants carry hunting rifles like in FO3. I haven't even encountered one yet but if you're high enough level you could probably take one down fairly easy.

Thank you for letting us know, but BIG BOOMER is a unique weapon. Why would I want to sell it? Look it up in the guide book under Unique Weapons Section.

Ok I'll check it out.

Also; about the Big Boomer.

The lady at Gibson Scrap Yard is only carrying a pistol, so I am afraid killing her won't drop the shotgun. Are you sure it drops?

When I searched her, it was there. And i saw the value was like "2249" or sumthin. but shooting it a few times made the value drop drastically.

I guess the Varmint Rifle (which is meant to hunt smaller game) has replaced the Hunting Rifle as the "cheap" straight shooting rifle, while the Hunting Rifle itself would better serve it's intended function in FONV for taking down large game. :gun:

There are Super Mutants in Hidden Valley? Is it the 'other' bunker?

My hint to get some really fast caps is to
Spoiler
steal a combat armor from the lodge in camp golf.
Worth 2500 caps.

Just to chime in here, the weapons and ammo in New Vegas are much closer to those in the older Fallouts (1/2), than to those in FO3.

I have found a hunting rifle on a ghoul on the Repconn Test site quest. You have to kill this ghoul, take his rifle. Head to Gun Runners and buy the scope for it. Bam, sniper rifle and it's great. That is the only one I've found other than at gun runners and I'm level 14 and seriously look in everything.

Think I got mine after getting attacked on the open road by the Viper Gang (something like that, forget the exact name) and my subsequent execution and looting of said ruffians. :)

If you do the quests for The King in Freeside, on the last quest you have to kill a bunch of NRC guys, and like 2 of them have hunting rifles. So you can pick up both and repair one.

Chambered for .308 rounds in New Vegas. Hits really hard on a sneak attack. Good chunk of the 8,000 caps I just made off of snowglobes is going into acquiring one with all mods.

For early game plinking the cowboy repeater does a fine job. It's pretty much a direct replacement for FO3's hunting rifle.

You don't have to kill her for the module, you can just pickpocket the key to her stocks and open the metal crate (I didn't even lose any karma). Although I did not see the shotty when I did this.

I hate how at "Gun Runners" I see at .50 cal, and some 240 Bravo looking LMG's. but they are not in the option to buy. :( eff'in robot. I've gotten past some of the "Nellis" side quests... it looks like this Fallout is going to be muuuuuuch longer than Fallout 3.
