Fast Shot and the Service Rifle

Post » Thu Jul 04, 2013 10:26 am

I am looking at making a Grunt guns only character, and as such I will be stuck with the Service Rifle for the beginning of the game. The service rifle has 0.55 spread, and if I take fast shot it goes up to 0.66 spread.

I am wondering if anyone here has used the Service rifle as their only weapon and taken the Fast shot perk, and if so if they could tell me if the accuracy loss is a big deal or not.

I know I really want fast shot for the Survivalist's rifle and the All-American, it's just the early game that worries me.

I know the Auto-Doc in the sink can change my traits, but I usually take a while to get to OWB.

You'll be fine with fast shot and those weapons. You probably just want to stay way from the Assault Carbine and Light Machine Gun. anything fully auto, will suffer with fast shot as a trait.

I myself am a huge fan of the Marksman Carbine and fast shot. You can get the Marksman Carbine very quickly too if you make a run to Boomer Territory right away

Also taking perks like commando and fast shot will negate the accuracy penalties in VATS too. IF you are a vats user that is. I always take Sniper at level 12, and then in vats you have better accuracy for head shots. You don't really need Commando.

That's good to hear. I never really liked full auto weapons in this game as I hate wasting bullets, especially since I play on hardcoe so I have to limit the ammo I carry. I also almost never use VATS so that won't be an issue. I'll probably end up using the survivalist's rifle and the All-American for my final weapons. The Survivalist's rifle packs a bigger punch, and with JHP ammo the damage boost outweighs the DT multiplier up to an enemy DT of 20 something. The Survivalists rifle also out DPS's the All-American. The All-American however has a scope, and with WMX I can silence it. I might end up carrying them together lol!
