I'm not gonna use fast travel (OB-style) at all in Skyrim. All I need is carriages to major cities, which we now have. And it is awesome
Some people may think this as a small thing, but for me it's a very big thing. How you travel is important in a free open-world RPG like Skyrim, where exploration is one of the main things the game is about.
To improve on fast travel and restrict it to logical places and to have an actual explanation for the fast travel itself is therefore very important to me.

Thanks Bethesda for carriages :)

In real-time, like this, yes? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9pBY94D5B3I

Would be nice, but as long as there's an option to press a button to ACTUALLY fast travel. Otherwise it's... useless to be honest.
Add some random bandit ambushes and such during the ride and this gets even more exciting :)

This.

I'll use both. Carriages if I'm in a hurry to get to new major locations, fast travel when I'm being impatient.

I'll also walk a lot.

Me too probably, Im just thinking wishfully [Because I dont really like fast travel, and hope that the environment is pretty enough, and the dungeons are nice enough, etc... that I will actually not want to fast travel (and if there are bed rolls, and tents you can make and stuff Ill like that too >_>....)] (IE, I voted for carriages...)

Boating and using silt-striders added a cool element to MW, so I am looking forward to seeing what carriages are like in Skyrim. While I am sure that I will use fast travel on occasion at least, hopefully carriages will be affordable and fun to use.

Depends on what kind of game I am playing. I may do no fast travel or carriages for a game, then do anything goes, then only carriages, then no going to cities. I do a lot of different characters and games.

Well, If the walking is anything like it is in OB, I probably won't need to fast travel (I say that because I could run to a city really quickly, but now with how Skyrim is set up with the carriages, and the settlements/ smaller cities in where the larger cities are, I really/ probably shouldn't need fast travel... Also, I hope that you can't fast travel to High Hrothgar/ throat of the world/ even after you've gone there before...)

I'll try to ignore fast travel as much as possible, and use the carriages most of the time, if not all the time.

Carriages whenever possible.

However, bearing in mind the carriages only travel between a few places (the 5 major cities I'm guessing), I'm not going to avoid fast-travel on a point of principle. If I've legged it along a particular route a dozen or more times before, I'm going to be fast-travelling it.

It's a shame, really. One of the things I liked about Morrowind was learning the different travel-services and how to use them to get quickly and efficiently from A to B. But I understand why Bethesda want us to have to walk to most places at least once - it really does encourage exploring.

I'll use a mixture of both, but I won't fast travel on my first playthrough.

Carriages for sure, unless they are in real time. If they are in real time with no option to skip to destination, I may still use fast travel occasionally.

I voted carriages because I never use fast travel, and I'll probably use a carriage at least once just to see what it's like. If there had been a "neither" option, though, I would have chosen that. I really like walking around.

[Edit: I switched my vote to "neither" now that it's an option.]

Definitely carriages, maybe some fast travel on later playthroughs. I'm just glad their adding in the option for both
