"Fast travel is currently unavailable from this location

Post » Thu Nov 26, 2015 6:49 pm

Ever since completing the "Reunions" quest I've been unable to fast travel. After completing the quest and leaving Fort Hagen, the BOS Prydwen was over head and I tried to fast travel back to Diamond City. This is when I first noticed the issue.

Now, after hours of playtime walking around and unable to fix it, I'm really disappointed that I'm unable to fast travel. What's even further disheartening is to see that this bug also existed in previous Bethesda games. From what I've googled, the issue seems to be cross-platform. I hope there's a patch for this because I really don't want to trek across the map every time I need to get somewhere.

We're investigating this issue. If you could provide the following information, it would be appreciated:

  • First known point where the problem occurred
  • Current quest objectives
  • Quests completed

Hi Gstaff!

I found it had occurred during the "Lost Patrol" mission for the brotherhood of steel.

In another post some people attribute it to the National guard Training Yard location. I however had it occur once i had approached the first beacon site although i was looking around the Med Tec Facility north of the objective location.

I traveled further north to the Asylum and killed the guards out the front and this is when i first tried to fast travel back to the Med facility and it just wouldn't let me there was no notice at this point.

I saved and reloaded now it was showing the "fast travel is currently unavailable from this location" it shows the message when trying to fast travel and when just swapping back a forward from the map on the Pipboy.

completed quests:

Out of time

When freedom calls

Jewel of the commonwealth

The first step

Sanctuary

Raider troubles at Oberland station

Fire support

Call to arms

Semper invicta

Unlikely valentine

Getting a clue

Reunions

Shadow of steel

(various "Cleansing the commonwealth" and "Quartermastery")

Tour of duty

Show no mercy

(various "Cleansing the commonwealth" and "Quartermastery")

The gilded grasshopper

Feeding the troops

Learning curve X 2

(various "Cleansing the commonwealth" and "Quartermastery")

Last voyage of the USS Constitution

The lost Patrol

The Lost Patrol is completed as i walked all the way to the Prydwen to turn it in hoping that the quest ending would clear it. It did not work. I was undertaking the mission in Brotherhood power armor and with Paladin Danse as a companion.

At 42 hours and level 26 i may just abandon this character. Please let us know if there is a fix we can do for this or if we have to wait for a patch that would be very much appreciated.

Hi Gstaff.

I'm also experiencing this issue.

  • First known point where the problem occurred

After I finished the mission: "Ghoul Problem at Greentop Nursery." I came outside of the National Guard Training Yard and haven't been able to fast travel since. I've tried in different locations as well, restarting the game, the PS4 and no luck.

  • Current quest objectives
  1. Clearing the Way for Somerville Place
  2. The Lost Patrol
  3. Raider Troublers at County Crossing
  4. Old Guns
  5. Semper Invicta
  6. Sanctuary
  7. Jewel of the Commonwealth
  8. Miscellaneous

  • Quests completed
  1. Stop the Raiding at Oberland Station
  2. Ghoul Problem at Greentop Nursery
  3. Returning the Favor
  4. Taking Point: Sunshine Tidings Co-op
  5. Taking Independence
  6. Taking Point: Starlight Drive-In
  7. Curtain Call
  8. Call to Arms
  9. Fire Support
  10. Raider Troubles at Oberland Station
  11. The First Step
  12. When Freedom Calls
  13. Out of Time

Again, this is on the PS4 and I'm Level 14.

Thank you for your help and I look forward (anxiously) for a fix.

Sam i notice you have The Lost patrol in your active quests the wikia page has the bug listed for that quest. I believe approaching any location to do with that quest may be a possible trigger for this. I have seen a post regarding the beacons and bug with scrapping them also.

I wonder if the beacon signals are meant to stay in the radio channel list as all three are still in mine. while taking an awful long time I endeavor to check a few things out and will post if I find a solution.

After two hours of running i have returned the distress pulsars to their original places. They still operate as they did in the quest, I revisited the quest locations hoping something would happen and nothing did. I also got to level 30 and got the strong back perk for fast traveling while over encumbered and that didn't help either.

In my area of research monetary policy, we know the importance of managing expectations.

With that in mind if we could have some word on if this is going to be addressed sooner rather than later and if effected characters can be retrospectively restored to normal fast travel operations.

PLEASE help us cure "Lost Patrol Disease"!

@anotherandrew good call on the 'Lost Patrol' similarity in all of our quest lines. I completed that quest tonight in hopes that it would reset my fast travel ability but I'm still unable to fast travel. I have 10 hours on my character without fast travel; I could potentially re-load a couple horus before my old save but I can't be assured the bug won't happen again once I complete the Kellogg mission.

I'm with you on the bug fix notification -- @gstaff, can you please chime in on if you expect there to be a fix for this for console owners and what timing might look like?

I have to say I would not be buying any DLC before this (serious) issue is addressed. It severely limits gameplay for those of us with obligations in our lives and makes questing so much more repetitive.

Thanks

@lyricalpayload I cannot take credit for the 'discovery' you can see the lost patrol page on the fallout wikia where the bug is listed among a few others related to the quest. That being said i have a further 18 hours of my character with "Lost Patrol Disease" (LPD) and up to level 31 from 25.

While doing the quest I thought it might be a mechanic of the specific quest as it was a "patrol" I figured bless my soul, that it would go back to normal once I finished it. The only earlier save I have is at 46 minutes in Vault 111.

That being said the awareness we can raise about LPD could save others and hopefully bring a resolution sooner.

I echo lyricalpayload's request for some info on when we can have this fixed. If it's going to be more than a week in a major patch addressing the majority of quest issues others have had I may just start again. I nearly cried when doing the missions for Cabot house where in Special Delivery i had to walk all the back from the Asylum to Cabot house AGAIN!

A little expectations management would be very appreciated and is done via providing a little information only.

And remember help fight LPD!

@anotherandrew I found this on another post: reddit . com/r/fo4/comments/3sed5m/fast_travel_bug/cx0sxpw

I'm going to give it a shot and will report back on my findings.

MAJOR UPDATE:

Following a post on reddit people with LPD found by activating the terminal in Listening Post Bravo a master locked terminal they could then fast travel again. Listening Post Bravo is directly north of the NAtiona Guard Training Yard and shortly north-east of the Med-Tek Research.

Success! I can now fast travel again after 11 hours with LPD!

I have the perk to hack the master terminals however i did not hack it i just activated it and closed it. I walked outside and zoom fast travel again.

Its a wonder that help can be found in other places not on the forum that directly relates to this product.

Please try it your self some have said it sometimes does not work we should check it and see.

LPD has been isolated and a cure has been dispensed to the victims. While not all respond to the treatment a very high percentage do. This pathogen will be extinct soon.

I was unable to get the terminal trick to work. I walked all the way there. I do not yet have the perk so will once again hold out hope for being able to hack 'master' terminals and hoping this will resolve this issue.

That's strange -- I don't have the perk either and it worked for me. Did you destroy the two turrets and Protectrons as well?

I also tried walking back to Fort Hagen and walking in and outside a few times to 'clear' the problem. I'm going to assume that the problem is not fixable for me and I'm going to hope there's a patch that addresses this issue.

@lyricalpayload Consolidations bro!

give it a go when you get the master hacking perk or try some other master terminals to see if they work.

I have just exited the National Guard Armory and went to fast travel to Sanctuary. Fast travel appeared to be working but my character died upon arrival. Have tried to travel to other locations and same thing happens. Decided to walk away from the area in all directions and when I get a certain distance away the character drops dead.

Another issue is that stimpacks and food are not restoring health.

Any advice please.

@vanguardianncc do you have "The Lost Patrol" active or completed? The main source of this bug seems to be that quest. I do not know if the terminal hack works after completing The Lost Patrol or while you still have it active. I had completed it the quest and had done another 11 hours or so walking before i tried the terminal. I hope you can get it to work for you!

@stoya you have a virulent strain of LPD not one seen by the majority of people here! Jokes aside you might have something else compounding this I have researched this bug a fair bit and have not seen a problem like yours before. The only thing i can say is try to fix it by what works in the mean time note that walking in power armor takes ages and millions of fusion cores.

@anotherandrew I got this resolved. Got out of the armour and walked to "County Crossing" and over wrote the previous save. Walked back and got the armour and fast travel reactivated along with the health issue.
