Fast travel shouldn't be in this game.

Post » Tue Dec 06, 2011 10:31 pm

The horse carrige system is plenty. I just don't like the fast travel system...Going from one end of the world to the other should have obstacles, and when you use the fast travel, you skip all that.

Don't get me wrong, I have used it. But it just seems cheap to me. The thieves guild quests, for example, you can fast travel, pick a lock, fast travel back, mission done in 5 minutes...

I know, i know, play how you want to....but this just seems like a cheap shortcut in every way. At least use the horse carrige and pay your 20 gold or whatever. I, for one, will not use fast travel again.

Fast travel should be in this game. Don't use it if you don't want to.

This. Not everybody wants to spend three quarters of their play time walking.

Fast travel should be in the game. The more options the better.

I personally don't use it, but that's no to be petty and not allow others to use it either.

Don't use it and stop complaining.

You have no right to complain about this whatsoever, and you CERTAINLY cross the line when you're suggesting how other's should play.

STOP POSTING THESE TOPICS.

I kinda agree, I love travelling on my horse through the nordic landscape. But then the Fast Travel gets tempting at certain points. :P
But yeah, if you don't want to use it, don't. Problem solved.

So walk to the nearest town and hire a taxi horse....Isn't that enough of a break?

I have used fast travel in all of the other Bethesda sandbox games that I've played and never thought twice. But people here have been going on so much about how it's a lot more rewarding to refrain from fast travel that I'm trying to ween myself off of it.

don't use it, but stop telling others how to play. A guy with a full time job and a wife and kid might want to spend his time doing things other than walking. Me, I like the view.

Sorry, sometimes I don't feel like jogging between two locations to progress quests. At least the Main Quest isn't based around the use of fast travel, unlike Oblivion.

Honestly, I would've agreed with you until about 20 minutes ago, when I was told to return to High Hrothgar for about the 5th time in the main quest. I still probably won't fast travel there, since I've gone this long without using it, but honestly I could see how some people would like it for situations like these.

And what of those places that are not near any town, or are just a pain in the butt to get to?

Here is something for you guys. Morrowind was the ONLY TES game that disabled Fast Travel. It's associated with TES since forever. Though admitted, I enjoy the Silt Strider/Boat system but sometimes in need to Fast Travel to wrap up a quest real quick before I go to bed with a satisfied feeling.

Im not telling you guys how to play, but aren't there enough major cities close enough that you could hire that taxi, and walk from there?

And seriously? You reported me?? Jeez.

Fast travel needs to be in the game because not everyone who plays this is a masochist. Why the hell would I want to walk up to High Hrothgar every time I pick up a new lead on a word of power for example? That's just dumb...

This is the kind of stuff that gets people reported. Do NOT tell others how they should play their own piece of entertainment; it's value is subjective; you are NOT the authority on it.

don't use it, but stop telling others how to play. A guy with a full time job and a wife and kid might want to spend his tie doing things other than walking. Me, I like the view.

This. And besides, people don't even need an excuse--fast travelling because you prefer it is just as valid.

I hope this shameful stain of a thread gets locked soon.

If horses were better, I would opt for that instead. But, it's too much to walk everywhere.

"Fast travel shouldn't be in this game" sounds like telling people how to play to me.

The carriage system is just fast travel too.

I find fast travel invaluable for finding Lydia after I've ridden somewhere.

Yea I'd hate to see it taken out if nothing else for things like this.

I dont use it, but sometimes if I am getting tired and ready to go to bed, and just wanna turn in a quest before I finish, I'll fast travel a reasonable distance (not across the map) to get to where im going.

So even tho I dont like it and dont use it, I have a hard time saying remove it. But if it were removed, i wouldn't complain.
