Fast travelling

I was thinking that with fast travel it would make for a more interesting game if when you travel long distances there is a possibility of being 'waylaid by enemies' like in the Baldurs gate games, like you would have a random encounter half way there and have to fight a group of enemies or occasionaly special enemies. I think it makes it so easy just being able to travel long distances so conveniently and I dislike walking by foot all the way just to make it more realistic, that gets old fast to me.. agree/disagree?

if the player was waylaid, like one was by the dark brotherhood while sleeping in Morrowind, then the player would never get anywhere. a hostile creature pops up in the wastes every 100ft or so. In fact, i start to wonder when im not constantly seeing red ticks on my compass.
