Yes! Because everyone can fight! And everyone has skill in some sort of combat!
And this is Skyrim! Not America!

If there are fat people will they be easier to hit using archery and will they be harder to kill due to the extra padding?

All we know is back in the January Issue of Game Informer, they said bodies will be customisable, not in the main text, but in a screenshot caption. If the player gets a choice, can't see why they wouldn't use body types on npcs too.

hope so. also wonder how many different body option there will be, since for each one they need to make a ton of new meshes for body equipment.

Good point, multiple body types = exponential increase in programming workload
Result: Unlikely

A more simple solution to the armor problem: too fat and it won't fit on you :D

What makes you think we can answer this?! Just look at screenshots and come to your own speculations.

We have MALE and FEMALE body type, I don't think that there are too many other options, because that would mean that each armour would have to be reshaped for every size. That would double or quadruple the work.

If there were more, I would suggest a muscular and a more average type. That idea would be good for races, because I imagine Elves would look better with "average" bodies than "muscular" ones, but let the player still pick.

I don't think you'd get any combat bonus/penalty depends on your body type.
But I think it's likely you'd be able to customize your body just as you can with your face.

I hope to see people being people. Thin, muscular, fat, chubby, etc. At least the more human ones. Imperials and bretons definitely. Elves, hopefully as well. Argonians and Khajiits I could do without, but being "The Fat Cat" would be neat. :P

I would like to see some body variety. Fat, thin, average, and muscular would be fine. But it will really get a lot of extra work to the dev team to reshape armours, unless they have some distort / auto-adjust mesh script for armours to do so. But if we didn′t saw any body shap than muscle ones, i don′t if the "body customization" extends to it′s shapes.

But if all NPCs be like the muscle monster dragonborn, it will be a little wierd... A Muscle Elf? wierd, wierd... :shakehead:

I want to see some fat bartender to grab me some Ale :foodndrink:

If San Andreas can do it, Skyrim can do it. Eat too much salmon and you get a beer belly.

If the armor fitting system is like in Oblivion, they could just have a fat skeleton, a thin one, etc. The armor/clothes model will naturally ajust to the size and shape of the skeleton.
Edit: http://tesnexus.com/downloads/images/31822-1-1274488671.jpg The armor is not custom, it just automatically fit around the skeleton.

I want! :hehe: Otherwise I've to do some modding again...

Here's an example too:

It would work, but stretch the textures. The difference in body sizes and shapes couldn't be very big. In my opinion the best option would be to make different body models and armor models that match them. This would use more disk space though...and likely use more memory in scenes with different kinds of characters...

fat dragonborn: i'd like an armor

blacksmith: *looks at dragonborn*..... that'll be extra.

:pinch: Fine...

That would be funny. :) And if more materials would be needed in crafting. I don't think the different body types are going to change gameplay anyway though, just change the looks.

Edit:
If anything you need that extra insulation

You know that fat people don't exist in anyone's concept of an enjoyable fantasy.

Not really. The meshes can alter dynamically very easily, just as they did in Oblivion. Squash and stretch is not hard to apply to models.

Hello? I exist and I do believe fatness is common in fantasy stories. What about fetishists? ?_? Speak for yourself next time.
