Food is expensive, and earnings are low (compared to the modern western world). Fatness typically occurs when a body is consuming more food than it needs for immediate uasage and so it stores it. Your average wastelander in the game simply isn't wealthy enough to afford enough food to be fat. They also get more exercise by having to walk most places or work in jobs that require a lot of physical labour.

I think the lack of operational fast food resteraunts has something to do with this :P

I don't think it's anything to do with scarcity of food within the Fallout universe. It's because the engine just makes one body texture for men and one for women and applies it to everyone.

There's a new engine for Skyrim which will allow Bethesda to implement different body types, so you'll see fat people in Skyrim and Fallout 4 probably.

I hope our character can be fat. I'd probably kill myself to laughter before the end of the first playthrough.

Why? It'd hardly be that funny.

Fat people turn into ghouls. Its simple logic. Most food is irradiated and people who over eat self radiate to the point of ghoulification. Tadaa!

I think that the swampfolk in Point Lookout looked more normal than the regular humans in the game.
I mean, listen, I know they're deformed and crap, but at least there was 3 different models, they all behaved differently and looked different.
All regular humans in the game all look the same.
Even their faces can melt together from time to time.
So FO3 and NV were like walking around a land of clones.
The Den had a lot of homeless people and they all looked the same but I understand why they did so. (Considering the amount of critter animations.)
But in FO3 and NV I don't understand it and since the old games were about "The couch is broken to hell and back" when clicking "inspect" on it we can "see" in FO3 and NV that the couch is obviously broken to hell and back since it's FPP.
Anyway, mutants looked more normal than humans to me... Now that's a bad sign.

I really hope that FO4 includes:
Fat.
Skinny.
Muscular.
Overly muscular.
Piercings.
Tattoo's for face and body.
Scars.
More hair and beard variants.
And misc. (Molls, zits, wrinkles et cetera.)

And I think that fat people should show royalty, only people that earn a lot of money and can sit on their ass all day can become fat in the wastes.
So fat people would be obvious choices for robbers to attack.

Cadio. How are you supposed to outrun a deathclaw if you can't see your feet?

When was the last time you looked at your feet when you were running... Shouldn't you be looking where you're going?

If you get big enough I suppose you could roll downhill...

Maybe fatness will be some kind of S.P.E.C.I.A.L. perk. The less fat you are, the faster you run. That would be amazing...running in a Fallout game. If only If only
