No fat people...

Post » Fri Aug 26, 2011 3:56 am

Why is it that in every ES game there are no fat people?! :o You would've thought they'd add them by now, but for some reason every living person in the world is a body builder or an athlete! ...

... Or someone with a huge fat head with the body of a body builder/athlete...

Of course it's not a deal breaker, but it IS a big deal! In total, there was only 1 man in ES games since Morrowind who was fat. And that is the last Dwemer. Which is NOT a good thing!

* On another note: All the races look GREAT :o Plus, I noticed that some of them have bigger bodies and thiner bodies...

BUT NO FAT PEOPLE AGAIN!

There are normally no fat people in TES games. Think about it, why would there be a fat person in a world where every single person actually has to do manual labor for a living. There are no computer desks or fast food in Tamriel, no cars or elevators, yet there are wild animals and monsters waiting to kill us right out our front door. If we all lived in a world like TES where we needed to walk everywhere, be able to fight off or run from wild animals/monsters, preform strenous physical labor every day just to make some gold for food then yes there would not be one fat person in our world. Though if there were they would be few and far between because well lets face it, being fat is not very condusive to staying alive.

@ Pengman19: I'm just going to ignore people who post such statements towards me from now on :) If you can't take the thread seriously, don't reply. Agreed?

I don't deny that you're probably right. But there has been no confirmation. Confirmation comes from Beth or from actually playing the game. Watching videos, looking at screenshots, etc., is not confirmation. You're being presumptuous. You should not have said "confirmed" in your thread. This has been done multiple times in the past when there was no confirmation. Maybe being banned for doing it is harsh, but a mod should alter the thread title to more accurately describe its contents. Your thread title is deceptive. It's actually 100% incorrect.

One more reason to get the PC version is that with mods anything is possible. :hehe:

Fat Nords get 100% resist cold? :D

I just hope that there's architecture in place for people to swap out different body meshes for different races. That way if there are no fat chicks we can just mod them in without touching the hot/musclebound ones.

It's the same reason why there are no fat people in zombie movies, those who can not move quickly will be eaten.

It's hard to get fat when you're being chased by dragons all day.

Nirn is a very dangerous place. Those that are not as physically adept as others are sure to fall victim to the dangers out and in the walls of civilization. Also, the setting is one of ancient times. There are few modern mechanizations that make life so easy as our own, much like in our own history there were fewer obese because there were no cars and it was common to go out and perform hard labor for a living. Resources could also be low or rationed as it seems that there is always a crisis or war around the corner. One could argue that magic is this worlds substitute for advanced tech but is it not an exertion? Mages could very well be giving themselves a workout by casting spells. The setting and dangers presented in the Elder Scrolls simply does not realistically allow the survival of the overweight outside of plush noble positions.

Obese mod anyone?

I may make one just because I like to create few comical / hilarious characters.

One drink! Yes, a big one.

there were some fat old women in Two Worlds. Looked like they had done a completely seperate body mesh for them.

you can't do everything. It would be nice if not everyone looks like a body builder or athlete, does not seem like it would be too hard to add some pounds. but the people that talked about needing to make a separate mesh for them and clothes seem to hit the nail on the head.

there are lot of things that would be nice to add to a triple AAA game but they only have so much time and resources. you want fat people? buy on PC, and then Mod the game.... just saying.

It would be totally unrealistic to have fat people. People who live off their sweat and spend their time walking around mountains and making tools, and who have only as much food as they've hunted for are NOT going to be fat. Fatness is a product of excess and a lazy lifestyle. It would be dumb to have fat people in Skyrim. Even those who don't hunt for their own food still don't have mountains of it to eat and don't sit around all day doing nothing. They still live in mountains and are exposed to the elements without heating or air conditioning... they wear heavy layers of furs to keep warm and engage in physical movement to raise their body temperature. There are always necessities needing to be made or scrounged for, trees to fell, animals to skin and prepare, etc... and their hunted meat would spoil before they could consume enough of it to get fat. It is totally unrealistic to implement fat people in an environment such as Skyrim.
How many fat people do you see in even modern impoverished African nations?

Bathrooms will have to happen first before fat people.

Sweetrolls have existed for countless years now. The only explanation is that those who live on Nirn use magic to process food in their stomach, making use of every part of it. Thus, there's no need for bathrooms, and the lack of fat people has a lore explanation. :P

No. There were fat people in the middle ages. There are a lot of fat people in Africa - only because all the media shows are starving children doesn't mean there are no fat people in Africa, just google for it. In some countries it is even worse than in America for example. And last time I checked Skyrim was attacked by dragons and not suffering from a hunger catastrophe.

If you look at the ES world it is a pretty nice place actually. People live in harmony and in nice houses, they have food lying around everywhere. They even store some of it in crates and barrels outside their homes (apparently because there is no space left inside their houses for more food n drinks). Shops sell all kinds of food, every tavern has a nearly endless amount of it. There are rich and middle class people wearing expensive clothes. More than enough potential candidates for becoming fat. Not everyone in Skyrim will be a tough hunter living a harsh life out in the woods.

I don't really mind that there are no fat people, but 'explanations' like these drive me mad. If there were no children in Skyrim I bet someone would give a serious explanation why it's totally realistic to have no children.
