Hi there
my brother recently bought Brink. He can not run it due to the open gl 3.1 error "FATAL ERROR: The current video card / driver combination does not support OpenGL 3.1 or newer."
I am a bit stuck on fixing this problem if anyone knows how to fix it please let me know. He is running a ADM Radeon 6630 graphics card.

Your brother is using an old version of the graphic driver, anything below 10.10 does not support the OpenGL 3.1 therefor you will not be able to start the game. My guess is your brother never bothered to update his drivers and is still running with Vista/Windows 7 automatically installed driver. While that driver works for most stuff it is outdated.

All your brother has to do now is to follow the instructions in this link and download the newest 11.5 drivers : http://support.amd.com/us/gpudownload/Pages/index.aspx

If your brother encounters problems while playing the game like graphical issues or FPS issues then he will have to download a hotfix driver which is available here : http://support.amd.com/us/kbarticles/Pages/AMDCatalyst115ahotfix.aspx

I forgot to add a M at the end of the card so its a 6630M radeon graphics card do I need to uninstall the driver to make this work?

You only need to uninstall the driver first if you have any previous Cataclyst suits installed on your computer.
The following instructions are for Windows 7 / Vista systems, if you are running on XP please say so.

To check this, do the following:
1. Go to Control Panel
2. Programs(Uninstall a program) or Programs and features
3. Try to find the following in the list :" ATI Catalyst Install Manager " and if you find it, double click it and follow the instructions for complete Uninstall.

If you cannot find the ATI Catalyst Install Manager that means that you are using the automatically installed Windows driver, which means that you do not have to uninstall the driver before installing a new one.
