FATMAN & MININUKES in enemy hands?

Post » Sat Nov 28, 2015 3:10 pm

I have always had a love/fascination/deep interest in the FATMAN weapon. First time I powered it up and saw it's glory I became an instant addict to its power. Since then the question has crept into my head and have wondered if there is any possibilty that FALLOUT 4 will have a type of enemy, a specific location, or even a "boss" that will use the FATMAN mininukes against the player. Now of course besides the obvious answer to this of "No becaue instant death would make for no fun gameplay" response, whether it be a super Power Armor or an area where there are the personal phone booth sized fallout shelters one must duck into from point A to point B, interested in knowing some opinions/ideas/etc if this could be a reality inside Fallout 4. WOULD LOVE TO BE NUKED....uh in Fallout only that is.

Uh, okay, first off the way you have your post formatted makes it kinda confusing to read. Paragraphs are nice, but you should probably complete your sentences before you create another paragraph.

The only way I see the enemy using a Fat-Man is if it's as an obvious "don't go in the front door, moron" type of deal, either forcing you to sneak in through the front door or fight your way around him. Just enemies using the thing would be instant-death since players probably won't ever have enough health to survive a direct hit.

Only if it's made clear as day that if you get in this guy's crosshairs, you're nuked. This isn't Dark Souls, and there are those of us who aren't masochistic enough for save-scum playing.

If the weapons exist, I don't see why enemies can't also use them. Having enemies with bigger fire power is preferable to having insanely powerful enemies due to level scaling.

Don't some raiders in FO3 carry Fatmen and missle launchers?
I'm sure the Brotherhood was able to hold off of using theirs because they know how much destruction it'll cause.

I can only recall one enemy that was carrying a Fatman, and that's one of the Talons in the Capitol Rotunda moshpit. And odds are good that he'll either blow himself up or get roflstomped by the behemoth in there before he has a chance to see you. So you're highly unlikely to have that turned on you.

As for rocket-toting raiders... instant death for the Player inside a large AOE is not quite as guaranteed with a rocket launcher as it is with a Fatman.

Interesting, never had that happen out of 1000+ hours of gameplay with FO3 or FNV. Again, the point of the post was to come up with creative ways that Bethesda COULD HAVE enemies with this weapon, not reiterate the obvious with answers of INSTANT DEATH! Barriers and walls easily make this concept a reality. The number of times I would launch a mini nuke inside a hallway to clear out a dozen super mutants while quickly ducking behind a wall before the explosion makes this a concept that, with careful creative planning, I think a total possible reality in FO4. Any other constructive ideas/opinions would be well for this post! Thank you.

That's because super mutants don't normally have fatmen in an unmodded game.

One of the things I like about Fallout Tactics is that there are enemies who carry heavy firepower and know how to use it. I take one wrong step and I get cut in half by a 50 cal!

A Fatman as a common weapon in the hands of an enemy would be a bit much, but a Boss like enemy would be fine in my books.

Be cool if you could target the incoming nuke mid flight. Or at even at launch. FO 3 had it , NV didn't.,,,really missed that feature dealing with the Powder Gangers.

If it was used sparingly and in the right areas. Like the DCs and Quarry junction. I mean a place you know is going to be rough to begin with, like a SM or Enclave stronghold, but not main quest blocking and optional I say go ahead.

I don't see the real difference between dying from a hail of gun fire, under the rebar hammer of a Nightkin , being disemboweled by a DC.... or even a nuke.

Maybe have an app for the Pip Boy that gives a heads up about nearby nuke weapon detection.

Be cool to be in the PA battling hordes of SMs, nukes going off all around.

I can just see the player heading up to some random ass raider base when suddenly some where near them a mininuke lands and a raider at the gate says something like "drop your [censored] or die" to which the player can either drop their stuff or have to right one heavily armed raider.

the thing about mininukes is the fact that the fatman launcher is big bulky and ammo is rare. So if an enemy did have it they would likely only have one or two shots and would be slowed down be using it.... not only that they would have to take their time to aim the thing as to hit their target meaning if you are fast enough you can stagger them and take them down with out them ever getting a shot off.

i say there zero chance this will happen closes i ever seen beth go is getting two shot buy a deathclaw with low Endurace character.

having a bad guy that can one shot you in anything don't think will ever happen.

that being said droping fatman and ammo in front of raider they will pick it up and shoot you with it if you let them. :bonk: :bonk:

Well, if this was done, it would have to be for a unique boss/monster of some sort, one that never spawns, because the entire point of the mini-nukes is that there was a limited, specific number to collect in the entire game. Vanilla, not modded, of course.

Frankly, I find the "power" of the mini-nuke to be very underwhelming. I mean, Behemoths and Death Claws can just walk across a mini-nuke and a mine like it was almost nothing which makes absolutely no sense at all. The Behemoth at GNR takes at least 2-3 mini-nukes from the Fatman even with Lyon's Pride assisting. It's ludicrous, to say the least.

Sure, the Experimental MIRV works, but that's only because it fires 8 mini-nukes at once. That's something that you'll almost never do because 1) there's almost no place with enough room to do it without blowing yourself up and 2) (in vanilla) you cannot fire 8 mini-nukes at once more than about 10 times due to the very limited number of them in the game (and that's assuming you find every single one, of course).

IThere was one of the random encounter types that had a guy with a nuke launcher. but if you had half of a brain you could snipe him before he used it.

a couple of mods I know of will make it spawn on random NPCS though

I think enemies with that weapon would be a neat addition.

I guess it's possible, but BGS games don't tend to have a lot of rigid boss battles like that. If they did it then it would probably be at the very end of the game or as a part of a fairly large expansion.

Save scumming is the lowest form of gameplay.

To call save scumming "a challenge" is just unintelligent.

I WANT enemies that can one-shot-kill a player-character.

It's more incentive to be so sneaky you can't even find your self if you meditate.
