Hi fellow players/worshipers.

I don't think im the only one who noticed but why does every playable (male) race in oblivion have top shelf muscular bodies with an 8-pack of super abs?
EVEN Jauffre and all the beggars of cyrodill has perfect top model bodies shouldn't beggars have old and weak bodies rotting of age and disease? i mean even the crazy rat lady in anvil has killer [censored]?!
more reallity to the new game! (or atleast a change in cupsize on the elderly dunmer)

yes, more variance in body types greatly adds to the realism. The trouble would be in letting each piece of armor conform to the new body types as it switches between characters (say you stole a short of a fat man and you're skinny for example), however, I think it's definetly doable, and would really add a lot to this game.

Well we already know that there will be more variation in body types. I wouldn't expect anything too extreme (like genuinely fat people) though. There's only so much stretching of clothing/armor textures you can do before it looks jarringly bad.

are you going to be able to change you lenght? or maby shorter characters should exist, i mean you have the dwarven armour but it's full lenght?

No but I don't want to see those. But to be honest, I'd probably petition Bethesda to make levitation spells just to counteract this. I imagine it'd have to be a quite powerful mage to cast a spell of THAT magnitude.

Well they could just make it conform to the person wearing it. Like if you steal armor from a female character and put it on a male character.

someone who quests/fights for a living and ventures out into the wilderness for days on end, or sneaks around in the dark killing people, these types of people are not commonly overweight and are usually quite muscular. also mages are historically skinny.

Also, it is very possible to be fat AND muscular.

I would also very much like to see a greater visual diversity in the npcs in the game. Giving them different body types would go along way towards this.
As for the textures of the cloths, if the characters are dressed appropriately for their build the textures wouldn't need to be stretched too much.

I never really considered it a problem. Most characters don't go around unclothed, so you don't see their athletic bodies. You only see it when you kill someone and loot all of their belongings... if you're going around killing old ladies... for shame!

If it means not seeing over-sized fat heads on top of normal sized bodies, sure... Oblivion didn't seem to really change the body size all that much in respect with the head... then again on women... the moustache/beard textures were rather more of a distraction then that...

All that said, I'd hate for a fable styled "eat loads to get fat" gameplay, more so when all generic NPCs then are all just... well generic non-fat bleeders. I'd rather just have a character slider with in-game NPCs varied based on the NPC... so greedy characters are usually more glutton and fat then say beggers.

I agree. If we are actually going to see different body types implemented, it would be nice to see both the skinny and the fat accommodated. I suppose it could, in the polar examples of the physiological scale, run into issues and difficulties as far as the shape of armor and clothes and the subsequently varied fittings to the body; but regardless a more realistic diversity of body types would certainly be welcome.
