Fav weapon in New Vegas

Post » Sun Apr 25, 2010 1:27 pm

Right now I'm using:

.44 mag revolver (scoped, heavy frame) - I like it for close range sniping when I'm sneaking in tight areas
assault carbine (extended mags) - cheap ammo, good damage - would kill for a red dot sight on it :D
anti-material rifle (no mods yet, using WMX) - now that I can afford the ammo pretty easily it's a beast
and a couple of grenades (all the explosion perks)

I'm still a FONV newb though, so I'm sure these will change when I find and try out new weapons.

Probably. But the 12.7 pistol really doesn't come across as being the King of Magnum Hand Cannons, though. It just goes 'bang' and shoots a bullet. A powerful bullet, but you don't get the feeling that the gun is anything special. And it looks like puke, to be honest. Both of the 12.7mm weapons are so downright fugly that my chars are embarrassed to be seen with them.

The 12.7 mm pistol has the highest base damage-per-second of any non-energy pistol in Fallout: New Vegas, but it takes 75 guns skill and a strength of 7 in order to take full advantage of the weapon. And the design was supposed to look like the 14mm pistol from FO1 and FO2.

It may have the stats, but its look, feel, kick (total lack thereof, for a .50 sized weapon) and overall lack of any semblance of badassery, fail to impress me much. At least the .44 and Ranger Sequoia give good recoil and act like magnums. The 12.7 behaves like you're shooting a .38 special out of a fat, odd-looking ray gun. Hardly the King of Hand Cannons.

For work: 1 YCS/186 (Microfusion cell, max charge) 2 Brush gun forged receiver (.45-70 Gov't, Hollow Point) 3 Sniper? rifle suppressor/carbon fiber parts (.308 Hollow point)

For pleasure: 1 Maria 2 Lucky 3 Mysterious Magnum 4 Ranger Sequoia 5 La Longue Carabine (Hollow point all the way)

Honest Hearts was really good for testing my weapons.... no more YCS/186 for my.

For work; 1 Holorifle (Microfusion cell, max charge) 2 Sniper? rifle suppressor/carbon fiber parts (.308 Hollow point) 3 .45 Auto pistol silencer/slide (.45 Auto, Hollow point)

For pleasure: 1 Maria 2 Lucky 3 A Light Shining in Darkness 4 Mysterious Magnum 5 La Longue Carabine 6 Ranger Sequoia 7 Brush gun forged receiver (Hollow point all the way)

Gauss Rifle is easily the best.

Not at Honest Hearts... not even the YCS/186 with Microfusion cell, max charge.

Better take Holorifle with Microfusion cell, max charge.

Still maria.

Pretty, lethal, AND it fires the most common ammo in the game.

If only I could increase mag size.

I usually play my High-crit EW character these days, and i usually use a Tri Beam laser rifle. Seems to kill most enemies in 1-2 shots, even deathclaws.

Guns: Trail Carbine though weaker than the brush gun it can be aquire MUCH earlier and has more common ammo
Explosives: Mercy/Annabelle when maxed out (including explosive perk like Demo expert x3) these two are devastating
Unarmed: Pushy light, more durable and easier to find than the Ballistic fist
Melee: Knock knock looks cool and will make short work of most enemies even with little melee skills
Energy wep: Holo rifle - when maxed it packs a punch uses little ammo compared to other energy weps and has tight hip spread

is the holorifle dlc only or is it on the original coz i dont think i ever seen it.mine would have to be guasse + this machine.with both them you can take care of anyone or anything

Holorifle from dlc Dead Money (with Microfusion cell, max charge, one shot kill)
Ps together with; 1st Recon beret (+5 critical) Joshua Graham's armor (+3 critical) Perks; Light Touch (+5% critical) Meltdown ;-)

YCS/186 unique Gauss at FNV (with Microfusion cell, max charge, one shot kill... but not at Honest Hearts)

That Gun is pretty cool. Now that the latest patch has made it awesome, I cannot stop using it! I am able to destroy enemies on Very Hard with it, including Giant Radscropians, Ghoul Reavers and Glowing Ones, and even normal Deathclaws. Plus the reloading for it looks and sounds awesome to boot.

I never did like the whining noise it made when you reloaded it, didnt really like the little green light on the back of it either.
