favorite and easiest ways to make 100k

Post » Sun Dec 11, 2011 7:44 pm

I am at about 25 thousand gold. It was today that I decided to start saving up for my 100k achievement. Should I sell all of the enchanted weapons I have stocked up, potions I've made, etc? How else do you all suppose I should get that last 75 thousand septims?

I was expecting a guide but okay. It's best you get married then keep waiting, the money your wife makes adds up over time.

It's like 5 to 10th gold per piece of firewood. I was just kidding. That would be insane. But you could I guess.

Making money is only hard if you just want to sell things to one specific vendor instead of going around to all of them in the world/town to clear our their gold.

Kill some dragons. They drop around 300gp every time; plus up to 3 scales and 3 bones, which sell for almost 200gp per unit.

I make a lot of my money smithing. The trick is to mine ore or collect scrap metal from Dwemer ruins instead of buying it. My brother and I are particularly fond of smithing Dwarven bows, upgrading them, then selling them. They use few materials and have a good value/weight ratio. The downside is that selling them can be time consuming. I don't know if this is the *best* way to do it, but it works for me. If you want to skip the smithing steps, looting helmets and bows are both a good way to go, as they have a high value for a relatively low weight.

My thief makes money like a monster.

Alchemy and pickpocket, my friend. Pickpocket gold from every NPC, for starters. You can also buy every alchemy ingredient from a alchemy vendor, make potions, and sell them. Continue doing that, and you'll be in the same boat as me: 100 potions (literally, that's not an exaggeration, it's an estimate) for about 100 gold each, and nowhere to sell them.

Unless you take the Speech perk where every vendor buys everything, and then you'll be rolling in alchemy-induced profits.

You are all about the console huh? :geek:

On topic.....the gold you can make stealing is pretty good. My thief thrives stealing stuff, although I have a mod that allows any vendor to take stolen goods. Although, I'm only sitting at 6K because I buy bows I can not seem to steal along arrows and lock picks.

God I hate this system. It just adds tedium to have to wait or travel to a dozen vendors to unload a few potions you made. There has to be a better way to limit the money people make without just trying to bore them away from doing it.

Easy way to make 75k? Raid a few Dwemer ruins, craft all the Dwemer metal into bars, make Dwemer items, then enchant and sell them.

It's certainly better than old school RPG merchant systems where merchants do not respawn goods or cash, making getting certain items/gold far, far more difficult.

You only need to do what I suggested above if you don't have the Speech perks to increase merchant gold as well as sell every item type to any merchant. The most any merchant will have on them is about 2750 with all applicable speech perks. I have yet to find an item, even a heavily improved and enchanted item, sell for more than 1900 gold.

Get iron daggers
Get common soul gems
Enchant them with the "Banish" enchant.
Sell daggers for 1.2k without any speech perks.
Before I was selling them for around 650 then it jumped to around 1.2k somehow.

You get better prices based on your relationship with the merchant and your speech skill, without any perks.
