Favorite Books

Post » Thu Aug 13, 2009 4:49 pm

Maybe I am alone in this, but collecting books has been somewhat of a Morrowind hobby of mine. Some of my favorites include (in no particular order):

Trap
Hallgerd's Tale (If you have read it, then you will recognize my name)
Vernaccus and Bourlor
Poison Song (Full Set)
Palla I and II
Silence

So I ask, what are some of your favorites?

My favorite is Incident in Necrom. -Illusion magic at it's best.

Edit: And I did read Hallgerd's Tale just yesterday. Loved the ending. ^^

I like the ones that have a wicked twist at the end. In alphabetical order:

Bone (two parter, I think)
Chimarvamidium
Ice and Chitin
Last Scabard of Akrash
Silence
Smuggler's Island
Surfeit of Thieves
The Armorer's Challenge
The Black Arrow
The Dowry
The Gold Ribbon of Merit
The Locked Room
The Marksmanship Lesson
Unnamed Book

Of course there are still some books that I haven't even read yet.

So many...
But to name just a few: Five Far Stars, Words of the Wind, Ashland Hymns Poetry collected from Ashlander Wise Women.
Words and Phlosophy interviews with a Bosmer Long Blade expert.
The Rear Guard a lone Bosmer defends a besieged castle and how he obtains food.
Night Falls on Sentinel a really dark tale IMO.
Redoran Cooking Secrets Redorans do know how to eat well.
Fall of the Snow Prince a Bloodmoon side quest about the mysterious Snow Elves (Falmer)
Battle of Molag Beran an old ballad about a clan war between House Reedoran and the Dren clan. (Part of an official plugin-The Entertainer
I'll probably come up with others later.

Some of the ones you listed are also on my longer list. The Bone books are really good.

The Locked Room and Smuggler's Island I don't have, so I'll have to go find them.

Vernaccus and Bourlor has one of those endings that I think you're looking for; however, alot of Morrowind books have some sort of twist, which is really cool.

These books are found in Oblivion and not Morrowind. I was puzzled because I knew that I have seen "Chimarvamidium", and it has a curious title, so I went into the Morrowind Construction Set to find it. I searched and searched and searched, then I googled it and found out that it is indeed included in Oblivion, as are the other books in your list. No biggie. We could simply be talking about Elder Scrolls books in general......
Books like "A Dance in the Fire" and "The Mystery of Talara" (all volumes) and maybe some others are in both Morrowind and Oblivion.

I have to admit the only Morrowind books that I know that I have read all the way through, for sure, is "Grasping Fortune", "The Alchemists Formulary" and "The Lusty Argonian Maid".

Chimarvamidium is the book that you steal from Sirilonwe in a Mages Guild quest in Morrowind. All of the mentioned books are found in Morrowind.

You are absolutely correct....I just can't figure out why I can't find it or the rest of them in the books section of the CS.......must have different item names or something.....I should have researched a little harder before I posted. My apologies, and thanks.

[edit]

I found it.....Chimarvamidium's ID is "BookSkill_Heavy Armor3". The others in Scarie's list seem to be skill books and have similar ID's. My mistake.

was thinking about the gold ribbon of merit today :)
lots of great books in this game. i'm a collector so the serialised books were my favourite. the real bareneziah, poison song, bone etc.

as a side note, i never played daggerfall but thanks to the awesome people at tamriel rebuilt i discovered the greats such as king edward. there are more i can't remember the titles of, the 2 about the imperial contracter and his adventures in valenwood and elsweyr, the play, fools ebony was it? loads more in there. i'd recommend getting tamriel rebuilt just to read them honestly

i'm partial to Palla, the Locked Room, and Last Scabbard of Akrash.

i like a lot of the daggerfall books that didnt seem to make the jump to later games, like the historical society series.

A Dance in Fire, my all time favorite set of books and the one that actually got me into reading the in game books. I read the first copy and had to know what happened next so I started going to tons of bookstores and rounded them up. Then I found out that Jobasha's Books I think had all of them.

One fo the things I notice about this topic always up at some time or another is that very few people only list one book and anybody who answers never lists the same books twice in a row. I know that I always list the various Ashlander poems. After that there's always something I've just read or reread that comes to mind.
Read on folks.
