Favorite companion so far?

Post » Sun Nov 29, 2015 9:21 pm

I've only really traveled with Piper yet, liked her so I romanced her. I was planning to switch to Preston soon to get his perk and then run do the rail road quests with Hancock.

I favor Nick. He's classy and has neat dialog. I was honestly touched when he started fussing over whether I've eaten or rested lately.

Codsworth so far... maxed out his disposition and got his perk just from modding my weapons and armor. "Rubbish"

Only been with Dogmeat, Cait, and Piper so far. Don't really have any complaints.

One time I was in this really creepy and what appeared to be a lonely place when Piper screams out "HELLO!, anybody there, oh right, got to me quiet" or something similar and I'm just Please continue, my good sir.!

Edit: The hell? ST*U changes to Please continue my good sir?

Nick has turned out to be my one true companion, so far. His character and lines are awesome; I never get sick of him commenting on the stuff I pick up, lock pick, or hack. Plus, his quest really endears him to me.

MAKE HIM ROMANCEABLE, BETHESDA!!!!!

I had him for a bit. Cool character, pretty standard, but his dialogue and animations are quite good. He just seems better suited to guarding Sanctuary than out roaming the Wastelands.

One thing I've already noticed about him now that I'm on my second character (a buff looking ginger guy named "Dirk Summers, my first character was his wife, a sveldt bookish ginger gal named Dierdre Summers) I noticed that, at least with Preston, there are some pretty subtle but noticeable differences in how he behaves toward different characters. Not sure if it would be because of a couple points difference in charisma or male-female difference or what. Might even just be my memory is failing but . . . I could've sworn when my female toon met him, he was all giddy and friendly. With the guy, he literally was giving me a hairy eyeball the whole time they were talking!

Nick and Cait has really cool backstories. Thus love them the most.

Preston has great voice acting.... and .... that is it.

Piper is ok... Good wife material but bad companion one :P

Also wait! Hancock is companionable? OMG must go google how to get him.

I really enjoy Cait and Nick the most. Especially since I gave Cait that unique baseball bat. I always smile when I hear that "home run" sound effect, knowing that a raider is probably being knocked off of a building or something like that. I also really enjoy Cait's back story... It's pretty depressing and made me want to help her out more, even more so than just what her quest does.

Nick Valentine is just overall a fun character to hang out with. Actually, same thing with Cogsworth. Both of them have great comments, remarks, and personality to them that makes the experience fun. My problem with Nick Valentine is that he doesn't have a personal weapon. Some of the other companions have invisible personal weapons which they have infinity ammo with... I don't think Nick has one cause when he is with me, he just picks up weapons from our enemies to use them and use up the ammo along with them.

Speaking about those personal weapons. That's kinda why I like Preston. Out of the human-followers, he has the best personal weapon. (Really, make him your enemy and get shot by his musket. It hurts pretty badly. I think it's a 4-cranker, maybe a 6-cranker even? I'm not fully sure).

I've only used Dogmeat and just maxed out my relationship with Piper. My only objection to Nick V. is his voice. That voice actor is used all over Skyrim and I just had enough of it. I will get over that eventually and take him on my next phase of the main quest.

Quite a few voice actors that were used in Skyrim are in this game. It's bothering me for some reason.

So far i've got Dogmeat,Codsworth,Piper,Nick,Strong,Curie,Decon and Cait and i like them all really. Well, except maby Preston. Not because of his character but his VO is so bad it buggs me.

Cait is good fun though, also she's a dead ringer for ME3 Femshep!

I went from Dogmeat to Nick Valentine until about mid story. As my character progressed I chose Cait ... she really likes my sarcastic no [censored] attitude.

Would be nice to have a bear as a companion. For centuries man has sought to harness the power of bears including todays modern militaries.

Ranked in order of preference:

1) Cait. Could be prettier and less annoying

2) Danse. Needs some more personality

3) Nick. Was awesome, but spending half the game in his company gets old

4) Codsworth. Great in the beginning, but then he repeats himself more than others. He is only a robot

5) Dogmeat. Very cool in beginning, and in the main quest, but the wasteland is too well populated to have epic lonesome trek

I like MacCready for the nostalgia value. As I was sneaking around a ghoul-infested cellar he suddenly shouted "Tunnel Snakes rule!" And made me miss my shot.

Danse seems like the only one who can actually put some damage out and not get murdered every 5 seconds, out of the few Ive gotten so far.
