I never use them, I find them to be too much hassle. I guess I take being the Lone Wanderer to heart.

Star paladin cross i absolutely hated!, weak, dose little to no damage with that stupid super sledge, i gave her a Gatling laser and a plasma rifle and she wouldn't use them. She is also very dull, boring and too much of a goody two shoes for me lol.

Maybe you need to take the supersledge away when you give her the plasma rifle.

Sadly, my characters all suffer from social anxiety disorder, and they don't like the companions...

Except Fawkes, because he's a f'ing super mutant.

Star Paladin Cross is my favorite companion. Her seriousness can be comical at times, expecially when I raise hell in Little Lamplight. Damn, those kids get on my nerves.

That's interesting, I gave Cross a Burnmaster and a Plasma rifle (generic variery, A3-21's is MINE!) and she uses them both (to horrific effect). She is a worthy member of my three-warrior team (Fawkes is #3), even if I do have to keep supplying her with ammo. Did you tell her to use a Ranged weapon? You can, you know.

Her Super Sledge is a waste because her tagged skills are Small Guns, Big Guns, and Energy Weapons.

Why is it that Dogmeat always dies with me, but never anyone else? Last time I played with him, I had to keep slapping stimpacks on him to keep him alive. And then he didn;'t follow me into the Archives, and died outside (and kept dying after I reloaded the savegame). No choice but to drag his corpse onto a pile of burning debris (you can't bury him, after all) and press on without him.

Dogmeat is the only one i let tag along with me. Once in a while i let Fawkes follow me.

I typically recruit all the vanilla companions once a playthrough, but nowadays I mostly prefer mod companions, my favorite being Colonel Autumn.

Charon vanished on me =(

Does dogmeat automatically become invincible when I go past level 20 or is there a certain way to glitch him.

Anyways my favourite follower has to be good ol' Jericho as he is the most likeable for me. Though I'm not too happy he [censored] Jenny Stahl.

The problem is getting the hairy fleabag TO Level 20 in the first place. My personal best is L14 before he got converted into his name.

Who are your favorite companions?

I love Seargent RL-3, and dogmeat of course.

What about you guys?

Dogmeat is my favorite, although he does get underfoot at times especally when I'm attempting to retrieve items or am going down the stairs at Rivet City.

Don't get me wrong, I love Dogmeat. I just can't seem to keep the wretched furball alive.

Fawkes is best because I don't have to worry about him dying and he's funny. Charon is too weak for me. He can't do big battles well.

Charon has saved my life more times than I can count.
If you give Jericho a fully repaired Heavy Incinerator and plenty of flamer fuel, you will almost never need to break out your own weapons. Ever. Again.

Here's my take on it, best to worst:

1. Fawkes - Virtually indestructible, and incredible firepower. With him on your side, you might never need to shoot anything again.
2. Charon - His shotgun is very effective, even at a distance, and his tagged sneak is useful as well.
3. Jericho - His Chinese gun is devastatingly accurate at a distance, and he can use big guns when supplied with ammo.
4. Cross - Loses points because you have to give her weapons and ammo for her to be effective. But she IS effective.
5. RL-3 - His plasma gun is good, but he can't hit the broad side of a barn with it. I've seen a Robobrain kill him.
6. Clover - Must be supplied with guns and ammo to be effective at a distance, but OK up close.
7. Dogmeat - No distance attack, and keeps dying. Better as a pet.
8. Butch - Never worked with him, don't plan to. He's scared of RADROACHES, for crying out loud.

Gotta be Dogmeat as my favorite. 2nd is Sgt RL3. Everyone else takes to much babysitting because they are very stupid and get wasted way too easily. Plus being a loner I feel better with my dog and a robot.

I don't like being evil either. That list I gave did not take karma into account. It puts Jericho at #3 because he's a reliable and dangerous follower, and you don't really have to arm him. And, if you know how to be properly despicable, you can get him on your side almost immediately.

Dogmeat, and though not technically a follower, i love my trustworthy Prototype medic power armor... "You're a soldier, not a civvie! have som juice and svck it up!" Less talkative than most followers, but still pretty epic :celebration:
