Favorite Daedric Artifact per Character Type?

Post » Tue Oct 15, 2013 11:10 pm

So as I play my Dunmer Assassin, I have rarely ever improved and made use of the Daedric Artifacts.

However, in my RP, my Dunmer Assassin has recently had a religious epiphany and has decided to fully follow the Reclamations along with his worship of Sithis.

(It sounds weird, I know. Mostly he just gives each Deity what they want and will allow them to fight over his Soul when he is finally killed)

So he went and retrieved/earned a couple of Daedric Artifacts and tried them out. Holy [censored] I love The Ebony Mail!!!! When paired with the Ancient Shrouded Cowl, Gloves, and Boots, he's nigh unstoppable. The few times he gets discovered, the Poison effect with a full three-Word 'Marked for Death' leaves even Dragons weak as the lolWolves you find in the wilderness.

So loving that combo, he went and started using the Ebony Blade... and had a few "friends" help him improve it.

O.o

Nothing can stop me now. I have gained a fierce new love for the Daedric Artifacts, and so I found myself wondering what ones other players might like, and what character archetypes and Armor/Weapon combos you used them with.

Please, enlighten me. :)

From time to time ill use Dawnbreaker, just because its devestating to draugr.
Recently on my last character i really took a liking to the Ebony Mail as well. My female nord vampire just looked absolutely stunning in that, especially when shed go into sneak mode and her eyes woul glow yellow. Kind of resembled Mystique from the X-Men.

I really love the Ebony Mail for its aesthetics as well.

If you're at all familiar with table top RPG's, there is one called "Vampire: the Masquerade". In said game there is a Clan of Vampires named the Lasombra who have control over and can create Shadows and Darkness.

My Assassn's name also happens to be Lasombra. ;)

So when he goes into Sneak mode and turns pitch black with the glowing yellow eyes, then you add in the tendrils of darkness that flow off of your character like a dark mist... it just looks very hardcoe. I love it.

My favourite thing about the Ebony Mail is going in sneak mode and then casting invisibility.

Two I almost always use:
Azura's Star (black version)
Sanquine Rose

As a werewolf, I am currently looking forward to the ring of Hircine

The Sanguine Rose is one of the ones I acquired, but I really don't see a use for it. Maybe it's because I'm a Vampire Lord Assassin, but it's abilities just don't seem useful at all. How do you use it, and for what type of character do you find it has an actual use?

Well for assassin characters, or anyone that uses daggers, the Mehrunes Razor is an awesome weapon. It doesn't count as 'enchanted' for using elemental fury (so you can have 2 daggers with the speed perks and then use elemental fury and if you do the 6 hit double power attack, it literally takes like half a second to do), and with each hit of the mehrunes razor it has a chance of instantly killing the person.

Also the mehrunes razor doesn't use charges either, so you never gotta recharge it.

For paladin, or holy type characters I like the Dawnbreaker. It has quite a few charges, does extra damage to undead and in most cases, when you kill undead it does that awesome explosion which makes undead scatter and run in fear (even really high level undead) which is good when you get swarmed by dudes.

Spell breaker is also awesome for paladin or hybrid mage warrior characters.

Volendrug or however it's spelled is great for two handed warrior characters.

With one of my characters, who was supposed to be my "dragonborn of legend" (ie a human dragonborn warrior who doesn't take side in the civil war and focuses on the main quest) I talked with Clavicus Vile and he asks what you want, I told him "I want to unite the country of skyrim" and in answer he gives you the masque of clavicus vile. So what I did was go to the greybeard meeting at high hrothgar with the imperials and stormcloaks and put on the masque before I did the negotiations (for roleplay purposes), to make it seem like I used clavicus vile's artifact to unite skyrim against the dragons.

With all my mage characters, I take the black star, because it's awesome and usually the ogma infinium with that.

Sometimes with thief characters, near the end of the thieves guild I'll take the skeleton key from Mercer Frey, and then I wont take it to Nocturnal and actually run around the world as a master thief with the skeleton key (doing the same thing mercer frey, and frankly any competent thief would do).

It is a conjuration staff. Aim and shoot. Summons a powerful Dremora to fight for you. Very usefull IMO. Especially, because it has no range limitation like the similar conjuration school spell. I can zap a Dremora into existence WAY over there to fight some enemy.

not to mention summoning a dremora is normally a high level conjuration spell, so it's pretty useful.

An assassin would find an angry Dremora to serve as an adequate distraction. Not to mention, back-up for situations where you are compromised and out-numbered.

I guess I don't see the point because I play mostly assassins. Between the Ebony Mail, Marked for Death, and an Ebony Sword of Drain/Absorb Health, I don't really need the extra combatant. Most enemies don't last too long with that kind of onslaught.

But for a Mage, I imagine it could be very useful. Or for an Archer to use the Dremora as a buffer zone in a pinch.

Sanguine Rose- various types of characters. Though sometimes their follower will carry it.

Dawnbreaker- vampire hunters of course, but also any character that "plans" on spending alot of time in Nordic ruins.

Mahrunes Razor- my assassin carried it along with Valdirs lucky dagger

Saviors Hide- female barbarian types, I don't like the way it looks on males

I think I used Azura's star's once. The only character I've had that "found" Spellbreaker didn't use a shield, so gave it to Lydia. Never used the Ebony Blade or mail.

Well, they tend to do this: http://i.imgur.com/mkl2DJG.jpg

And when they get really angry, this: http://i.imgur.com/q8ZM0Tz.jpg

Besides, you're a Dunmer. Dunmer love their http://i.imgur.com/p8wvZi8.jpg brothers from another mother. :flame: There are moments where you will be out-numbered 5 - 1. Skuldafn comes to mind... as does Forelhost, and Tolvald's Cave.

Yes, I have a man-crush for Dremora. Ever since I summoned my first Dremora, my first time playing Oblivion and hearing them trash-talk my enemies while hacking them to pieces.

Oh, don't get me wrong.

My Dunmer Vampire Mage loves to summon the Dremora. First part of every fight is dual cast Frenzy and then summon twin Dremora Lords to wade into the chaos. My mage picks off straglers from the outside. lol

But my Assassins don't typically use said tactic. I guess I could grind out Conjuration (or get the Sang rose) drop a few Dremora as a distraction and to soften up some of the tougher enemies, then finish them off with a throat cut... but usually he's a Bow and hands-on type of guy. lol

Oh, I love the Mace. it's brutal and traps Souls.

I'm just not running a character who'd use it right now.

But it's proudly displayed on one of my weapon racks. :)
