Favorite Expansion Pack

Post » Fri May 27, 2011 2:59 am

I've just got this saved in the note pad by now..
It's a tough tie between Tribunal and Bloodmoon, though Shivering Isles was very good as well (it renewed my interest in Oblivion and was much better than the original game, in my opinion). I think I'm going to choose Bloodmoon however. As much as I like Tribunal I think the thing that places it second, is the restriction of not being able to go anywhere else and the overall feeling of disconnection from Vvardenfell. It felt too much like it's own little pocket dimension cut off from everything else. Still wonderful though.

Also, why is Knights of the Nine continually placed in these polls? It is not an expansion, it's just a larger DLC "quest mod." It's not fair to put it up against the other three full blown expansion packs.

Shivering Isles I loved it at night , I loved looking at the skies some of the most beautiful moments in video games.

Bloodmoon vs Shivering... Its tough, Bloodmoon seemed like it added so much more to the game, it added an actual challenge to Morrowind, but Shivering Isles had a few things Oblivion didn't (or lacked) unique dialogue, unique landscapes and locations, and new lore. I choose SI but they are hard to compare due to obvious contrasts in the main games.

Mostly it's the second (actually first) expansion that never came.... I've to agree with you that about content it can't even be compared with the other three... but qua story it's as important as the other three while the other DLC's (like Dagon's Razor or the Siege at Firemoth) aren't that important in lore....

Bloodmoon. Partly because I feel at home in that kind of enviroment, like Bruma (Gods know why though) but mostly because, well, pretty much everything in BM was lovable. None of the other ones were bad imho either, but BM takes the #1 title.

KotN, i may be dumb as hell for saying this but, i dont care. you got awesome armor, you got to float in the sky, and you got to feel like a hero. perfect for me.
SI was second, at first i was like WTF THIS IS AWESOME but then the third time i did it i was like meh, this is boring
My morrowind doesnt work so im annoyed because everyone picked bloodmoon and i cant

Tribunal because I got a chance to see the mainland of Morrowind and reimagine how exotic Vvardenfell is. I also got a glimpse into the politics and conflicts that go on in the governing of the province and was rewarded with the chance to be in the same room with my all-time favorite TES character... Sotha Sil.

Tribunal because everything looked really rich. Tribunal and Bloodmoon are the only ones I've played. Meeting Almalexia was awesome. And seeing Trueflame in action was good.

Bloodmoon is my favourite. I had everything, a good story, a nice setting, atmosphere, it was different than vvardenfell and therefore it felt like a fresh breeze.

Shivering Isles is my least favorite. It felt like during the entire game I just kept running through all these caves that look nearly the same. Sure it was fun to visit the realm of Shoegorath but the main quest was incredebly boring and repetitive.

KotN was more of just a DLC. No real new details put in to it. Shivering Isles for me. Even thought Morrowind beats Oblivion IMO, The Shivering Isles kicked some serious ass.

Before I would step into the Shivering Isles I wanted to finish Oblivion fully.. I hate those gate openings! But I was tempted to have a look around and I went to meet this, Sheogorath just to talk once.

It was simply amazing. I haven't done the kOTN additive yet, but I doubt it would be able to match SI's total astonishment.

Both umm... Sides or whatever were beautiful. That night sky with the moons? I'd just camp out forever if it weren't for those running invisible looking fiends...

I just like that Final Fantasy thing. Awe Inspiring Ambiences make my day, night, morning, whatever yo!

I was really interested in the main quest for the Shivering Isles so I guess it gets my vote. I liked the alien-like setting it had also.

Shivering Isles just because of Sheogorath and Haskill. Not to mention that Doomsayer guy with not shirt and a war hammer. And the village where everyone has an alter ego. And the inquisitor quest

KotN was a bit of a disappointment for me. 0 Infamy? Seriously? SI was, of course, bad A though.

On the MW expansions, I'd say Bloodmoon; because it finally gave me a real challenge. :P

Shivering Isles hands down. Bloodmoon was a delight too at its time, but Shivering Isles was a hugely positive addition to a rather boring Oblivion.

I really liked how Tribunal continued the Morrowind main quest story and concluded it by allowing you to meet Almalexia and Sotha Sil. Unfortunately the lack of freedom still killed it for me, so I prefer Bloodmoon.

My favourite is Knights of the Nine for Oblivion. It allowed my Paladin character to sevre the Nine in a new way with a story and awesome equitpemtn which I think is the best in the game.

In order of favor: Shivering Isles, Bloodmoon, Tribunal, Knights of the Nine.

I'm not sure why Knights never struck the same resonance with me that the other three did, really. Sure, it was the shortest of the four, but that aside it was pretty cool: Enchanted armor and weapons that level with you (And adjust for your favored armor skill), those neat Aurorans -by far one of the coolest looking baddies I've fought- and the neat look into what it's like to quest for the Divines made up for the length of play. It just.. lacked something. Not sure what.

Anyhow, SI wins it for me simply for the aesthetics of the realm, nevermind the story, new items and hilarious inhabitants. But everything together made it feel like a whole new game rather than just an addon, yet it remained similar enough to Oblivion to work smoothly. Bloodmoon and Tribunal really tie in my mind: BM for the interesting look at the Nordic culture, the icy landscape and the new items and enemies. Tribunal felt much more.. linear, but the dungeon crawling pulled several tricks on me I didn't expect (namely the Black Dart Gang), the giant Dwemer ruin was fun to wander in (and attempt to make a home in amidst the respawning enemies), and the new architecture, after spending so long on Vvardenfell, was a refreshing change.

Seeing how all the 'real' expansion packs for TES were each pretty awesome, I find myself kinda wishing they'd taken the same approach to Fallout 3. But ah well.

SI and BM are my current choices. Which is better? I need to replay the both of them to be sure.
