I can't remember what it is called, but the place where the goul has placed toilet plungers all over the place, walls and ceiling. There is a damaged garden gnome with stimpaks and med ex syringes sticking out of it. That goul's been busy.

That is unofficially called the "Plunger Room of Death". The Gnome is meant to be fixed up like some twisted Statue of Liberty.

Here are some of mine:

* The glowing green mushrooms that grow inside dark buildings and caves near radiation.

* The light shining through windows of abandon buildings during daytime.

* The way the shape of the moon changes like in real life.

* The way certain clothes effect stats in a realistic way. Like a labcoat increases your science skills, a sixy red nightgown increases your charisma, and a mechanic jumpsuit increases your repair skills.

* Abandon buildings really do look like they suffered through a fallout with burnt walls, decayed furnitutre, and tiny ash particles floating through the air.

Up north today and sat in a chair upstairs in a barn...and there right in front of me were about 8 tin cans and bottles lined up for target practice. Just might be my favorite detail---makes FO3 such a joy. Your favorite detail?

Cept nothing breaks when you shoot them . One of my fav things to shoot are fire extengishers!

Another one

The gold ribbon grocery store at the jury street metro station, if you know the place you'll understand why :)

The female skelaton in one of those round nuclear protection systems, the one right outside the Flooded Metro, wearing a dress with 2 stimpaks and a cram. Makes me wonder what the final moments of that woman's life were like, panicking and seeing a huge white flash, followed by a deafening boom, and then basically melting or hitting the opposite wall, breaking your spine almost instantly...

I really liked the misanthropic mindset of the devs. Look at Mothership Zeta: The place was very neat and tidy, but as soon as the humans set up their camp in engineering, it becomes dirty, cluttered with junk and messy.

Also, I am really fond of how they arranged teddy bears every once in a while. Be it a skeleton of someone who apparently shot himself while holding a teddy bear, be it the two busy teddy bears that I found in some factory once (I don't recall where that was, but they definitely had fun), be it the teddy bears of Jericho. The bears really add some character to the game. :)

Both Teddy Bears and Gnomes. Though Gnomes are usually creepier.

No, it isn't old, as it has JC2, which is bigger than all the games you mentioned. Thought JC2 did come out right before RDR and NV was the same size as FO3.

Generally the lighting and how this changes to reflect the time of day, there's a point during the day when some glare kicks in and gives the grey wasteland a touch of warmth for a short while.

Sigh, no. When I did find the plunger room...tried making a plunger stairway. Sigh. Would have been great fun there and everywhere.

I like that 2 second tape you find in the wasteland where you hear someone saying "Come in, come in, any truckers on this wave?"
Has anyone else found this one? It's just a mundane, tiny little relic of the pre-apocalyptic world, and it doesn't tell any story or invoke any melodrama, yet somehow it really creeped me out when I first heard it. It was like the ghost of the old world suddenly came alive for two seconds, then vanished into thin air.

Also, I liked the truck full of dead Chinese Americans who were being sent to an Internment camp. That made me sad. "War never changes" indeed.

The CB radio holotapes are cut content. Their complete data exists in the GECK.
There is a mod on FO3 Nexus that restores them.

I'm bringing this back from the dead!

In The Pitt, Werner's fridge has a bunch of milk bottles...and an empty bottle of whiskey.
Spoiler
This, set up next to the baby pod-crib thing. That's where I was going with this ;)

Phew, epic tag fail, fixed it there :P

I really like the whirlwinds blowing about

I really like how the light coming from outside changes when you're indoors (indoors and outdoors were horrible disconnected in Oblivion)

I really like my .44 scoped magnum

I really like Skirt's thread necromancy :P

I liked the Gnome that had two teddy bears tied to a track in the presidential metro tunnel, that was cruel, yet funny.

I really need to pay more attention to this supposed gnome vs. teddy "wars" that people have referenced a number of times.

I liked the old houses in Point Lookout still had carpet and wallpaper -- especially the room with the nursery featuring a crib, a baby enclosure, toys, and a heart-print wallpaper. Really haunting, in fact.

Then there's that section of flooring I fell through in Calvert that landed me in the basemant <_<

Haven't read the thread ( :P ), but if I recall correctly, inside the Abandoned Apartments in The Pitt, there is an undamaged painting on the wall. It's the only one I can think of in the game (TL doesn't count).

To be fair, Skirt's necromancy was only 8 days. That isn't too bad. ;)

I agree with the light factors. I recall walking through the inside of a devastated building (Roosevelt Academy I believe) during the day and seeing the sunlight streaming through the holes in the roof was amazing! :)

Lying, Congressional Style on the Speaker's podium was indeed great.

I also love the lighting within all of the structures; it's hauntingly beautiful.

"A Note from Little Moonbeam's Father" was quite touching as well.
