I'm torn between... Well three of them really. I love nordic culture, I love Breton culture, I love Redguard culture... But I found imperial culture to be kind of bland. That being said, a lot of my characters end up being imperial, so as a race, I guess I like playing them.

Are you from england? You add the extra u in your words. Not a bad thing just curious :whistling:

but Nords for sure

Indeed I am, fellow old chap! Tea and biscuits and what-not!

Have you not noticed my frequent complaining in these forums? ^_^

More places than just england do that.

In Canada, we use the extra "u" and also haave some French spelling like Meter and Center = Metre and Centre.

Nord. There most like me in terms of race. They're not based around law and order, but rather Honour and Ritual. However I like all the other races because they add to the flavour of the game.

It's the same in England there, aswell. We have a mongrel language. Bits of French, bits of Latin, whatever we can scraqe together, really. :P

I knew you Canadians were cool...

Imperials are my favorite. Long live the empire! These guys and gals went from the slaves of the Ayleids to the conquerors of Tamriel.

I don't dislike any of them, though I do favor the Nords, just because they're awesome! But I do enjoy them all (though I liked Roman-esque Imperials more than the medieval ones).

We are like your children. We only got independant from Britain back in the 1960s?, I'm not sure of the date but it was around then. We still follow you around like a lost puppy.

Yeah so I'm from Canada, thats why I picked Nord. They are the most like me. In Canada we have Viking, Native, British, and French ancestry. Makes us more of an Imperial/Nord cross, but I'd rather be Nord than Imperial. Canada is where a little bit of Nordish culture comes from, mostly its Danish and Viking though.

Do you mean you like morrowind imperials more or oblivion imperials more? I like morrowind imperials they look more well roman and they sound more imperial and tough. The ones in oblivion stink and how can you concor an empire wearing 95 pounds of armor. You would get so tired quickly in battle lugging that around. I could see wearing that much armor on horseback but on foot you would be slow. If someone was faster than you they would harass you and tire you so bad you would ditch some armor and they would then move in real quick and kill you.

I agree. The Imperials in Redguard and Morrowind were awesome! Disciplined, organized, and self-confident. By Oblivion they've degraded into a bunch of boring medieval knights with nothing to talk about but the Grey Fox. The Counts and Countesses of Cyrodiil, aside from Janus Hassildor, seem to care more about doing Skooma and sending adventurers after Akaviri artifacts than actually governing.

It was a hard decision, but I'm going to have to go with nords, mainly due to their anti-mer stance. The Redguards comes only less than a hair short, but otherwise they're extremely BA, with Cyrus being the king of BA.

I agree. Nords just have an awesome culture and religion.

But i still want them to make the sequel for redguard....

I voted bretons. They're the first race I played when I got Oblivion. Their ability to easily get 100% magic resistance is a plus.
I don't know much about their lore. I can't even name their home province off the top of my head.

Nords would be my second. I don't pick any other race for a warrior character. Seeing naked nords allover Vvardenfell served as a nice comic relief.
Their viking-like culture is really interesting to me as well.
Todd Howard said on a http://kotaku.com/5441878/bethesdas-todd-howard-promised-better-graphics-withstood-your-calls-and-tim-rogers-showed-up that if he could bring back one thing from Morrowind it would be the strong sense of culture. If Skyrim is in the next game, you can guess how excited I am.

I voted Bretons.
1) They're shorter than average. As a tall person IRL, it appeals to me to play as someone shorter. Also, this helps with stealthy stuff somewhat, though perhaps this isn't reflected ingame, not sure.
2) They're the premiere Man magic users, and among all races second only to Altmer in magical prowess.
3) They're the ideal race for a Battlemage, able to wield magic and arms to equal effect.

I'd be really interested to know what Alessia was closer to. It's said that Nedes were closest to Cyrodiilic Imperials, and Alessia came from a Nibenese area. So most likely she'd be pretty close to an Imperial, if not exactly like one. But the slaves were moved all around Cyrodiil, so nobody can be very sure.

But I do find it very interesting how far they've come from being slaves to the sadistic Ayleids, like you said.

"Perrif's original tribe is unknown, but she grew up in Sard, anon Sardarvar Leed, where the Ayleids herded in men from across all the Niben: kothri, nede, al-gemha, men-of-'kreath (though these were later known to be imported from the North), keptu, men-of-ge (who were eventually destroyed when the Flower King Nilichi made great sacrifice to an insect god named [lost]), al-hared, men-of-ket, others; but this was Cyrod, the heart of the imperatum saliache, where men knew no freedom, even to keep family, or choice of name except in secret, and so to their alien masters all of these designations were irrelevant.

Men were given over to the lifting of stones, and the draining of the fields, and the upkeep of temple and road; or to become art-tortures for strange pleasures, as in the wailing wheels of Vindasel and the gut-gardens of Sercen; and flesh-sculpture, which was everywhere among the slaves of the Ayleids in those days; or, worse, the realms of the Fire King Hadhuul, where the begetting of drugs drawn from the admixture of daedrons into living hosts let one inhale new visions of torment, and children were set aflame for nighttime tiger sport."

It seems uncertain.

Ah, I missed the "Perrif's original tribe is unknown" part. :P Thank you for sharing.

I used to think the Ayleids were cool until I heard about the whole slavery, mutilation, mass-murder stuff.

I still think they're cool. Such twisted practices are awesome. I think the Ayleids are a competitor for the most evil race to ever exist on Tamriel. Their competition are the Altmer and the Dunmer. Stupid mer... :P

Nords ofcourse. The TRUE humans. Proud, fierce, dangerous, honourable and happy guys.
Imperials are Nords who are ashamed of being Nords... They should be ashamed of themselves for being ashamed of themselves.
Bretons are crossbreeds and are not really human anymore.
Redguards get a second spot for themselves. But they are not used to snow and do not live up in the north and therefore they lose. However I love their humour (So I said, wheres the money in that?) and voice.
