Favorite Mer

How about you mer stop obsessing on the past and actually look farther than your own nose and do something productive.

They were actually rather productive after the Oblivion events. Check the "Infernal city" :)

Oh, and stop the baby killing just because it's 1 shade lighter/darker than everyone else, and, therefore by twisted logic, not perfect.

Even if it is not an imperial propaganda, it is not mentioned in the third Pocket Guide, which means they already stopped.

Doesn't matter! If they're going to say all men svck, I'm going to drive an axe THROUGH THEIR HEADS!

 Men say all elves svck. Orcs say all elves svck. Double-Standards ftw?

After the Oblivion crisis, and a little bit before they started changing their systems. High Elven youths started rebelling against their arrogant and ethnocentric society, Wood Elves started doin' their Wild Hunt business again and stopped believing in their government (nothin' new there), Dunmer banned slavery and started adapting to Western ways... before they... you know..

Spoiler
'sploded

I'm sure you know all of this stuff already, but I'd like to put it out there that those that believe that they're the descendants of Gods also believe that the Men are the decendants of Gods. They, howeveer, stayed in Aldmeris and when it crashed to Nirn the Wandering Spirits (Men, Beasts) wanted back in and the Spirits that stayed (Elves) said that they'd gone too far from how they used to be and that they'd have nothing to do with them. So then they started fighting, blah, blah, blah, Lorkhan, blah, blah, blah.

A lot isn't mentioned in the third edition. The third edition builds on the existing content.

As the mer who manufactured the gods and succeeded in giving the world a do-it-yourself godbot, my vote went to the dwemer.

Ayleids enslaved Men. Altmer, Dunmer, Bosmer, Falmer, Maormer, Orsimer, and Dwemer had nothing to do with that whatsoever. After they landed the Aldmer that went to the Imperial Isle became the Ayleids, the ones that went into Valenwood became the Bosmer, the ones that stayed in Summerset became the Altmer, the ones that went to Skyrim became the Falmer, and the ones that went to Morrowind became the Dwemer. The Orsimer and Dunmer split off of the Altmer to follow their own path and were changed. Trinimac and his followers became the Orcs (Trinimac became a "Spirit of the Orcs"), and the others were changed by Azura because she's... Azura.

Redguards and Bretons weren't enslaved (not like that makes a difference, Ayleids killed children and mutilated people for giggles). And I think they left the Beast Races out of slavery. Like I said, not that that makes it any better, but they didn't enslave everybody.

I completely agree about the Ayleids, run them outta Cyrodiil, and Nirn while they're at it. But the other Elves did nothing and shouldn't be treated as such because of the Ayleids.

Altmer enslaved men. The Ayleid and Direnni, both. Ayleids allied with Alessia's Rebellion. For their fealty? Their kingdoms were toppled and their lands seized. This was how they became the "wild elves."

Dunmer enslaved people, as well. Altmer would enslave Men at the first chance they get, as they have done so before. Anyway, NONSENSE! THEY ARE ALL GUILTY, pathetic Mer. :P

What? I'm in character.

 Altmer have enslaved everyone because they think they're better. I agree Altmer should be knocked off of their high horse (which apparently has been happening), Dunmer enslaved the beast races (And some Mer and Men), Bosmer... ate themselves. Imperials took everybody over at least once. Nords have waged war with everybody on their borders. Bretons sided with the Ayleids (not cool).

There's a lot of bad things going for almost of the races.

I don't like taking sides.

 I just picture a poor village of Elves who didn't even know there was a (hypothetical) war against Mer going on and getting slaughtered while genuinely not ever thinking ill of Men, or anyone else for that matter. There was an Aldmeri scholar who moved from the Aldmeri tribes and was ostracized for it and he joined Imperial ways, does he deserve it?

I just hate it while whole races get judged unfairly.

I'm not judging races unfairly. It's a video game series' lore. I just like following my character's Mer-hating personality. As for Aldmeri decendants who got slaughtered through no fault of their own, that would be the Khajiit at the hands of Pelinal Whitestrake. He mistook them for Mer(not really too far from the truth) and slaughtered many of them, though they didn't really deserve it.

None of them above. When it comes to Mers, I play no favorites because I never play as one.

 I'm understanding about character, I just... ugh. It's probably just the way I get engulfed in things. I just picture it actually happening... blah blah blah I'm an INFP personality blah blah blah.

But also, it's implied that he's led an Elven genocide type of thing. Which would mean all of the Elves suffered.

Anyway, I should just avoid race threads 'cause I have a hard time seperating people's real-life hatred and the all too familiar reminder that happens in fantasy settings. I'm doomed to always take things too seriously. :(

I would have to say Orsimer are my favorite, for a few reasons. They're great for Warrior type Characters, which I play almost exclusively, their culture supports gender equality and honor, and they just look really awesome. Long live the Orcs!

Bosmer, for sure. Aside from being my next-to-favorite class stat-wise in the games, I would prefer a stereotypical fantasy elf with youthful energy and a love of nature than an obsession with a sophisticated high society (Altmer and Dunmer) or a species who they ass done been killed (Dwemer).

Oh, but I am surprised at the Dwemers' popularity in this poll. I figured that the playable races would have the lion's share of votes.

Dunmer, they were the race that was best fleshed out in a game and it made them look pretty bad ass.

I ended up voting Altmer. It was between them and Dunmer, and seeing as so many don't lke Altmers, I thought I'd cast them my vote.

Why are there so many different topics for this stuff..? It's kinda ridiculous. You can make more than one poll per thread, so why not combined these into all one? Just seems a bit excessive to have half the front page of this forum with 'WHAT'S YOUR FAVORITE_____" threads.

I didn't really intend for my beast thread to get bumped, and I didn't make the human one.

I voted Bosmer. Lorewise, they're small and sneaky (and I made a mod for Oblivion to make that fact be reflected ingame).
