Geomapping with Reilly is my biggest source of income. ...

The geomapping gig is a great way to get a pile of caps quickly, but then pretty soon you run out of places to map I think.

It does have to be urban D.C., right?

I don't think so.

Geomapping with Reilly is my biggest source of income. Selling chems like Jet and unwanted ammo also helps too.

Agreed. I'm guessing I know how how you resolved The Pitt quest then. If I'm right, then I did the same thing. An excellent DLC, if I must say so. :)

I have heard so much about The Pitt and haven't yet played it. I should really get on that...

Grinding. (or something similar) pick a good target, one that gives you a fair bit of XP when you kill it. (I did this lvl 1 and I picked an Enclave soldier, 50 XP) what you do is get it on it's own, kill it, then open up the console (press `, the one above tab) click the body and type "Resurrect" and it will res but not be hostile, so you get a bit of a start on it.

Hi speech allows you to sometimes negotiate a better deal for some mission rewards, can be a few hundred caps difference. My personal favourite is to hoard the workbench weopon junk until I have all the schematics then build as much as I can and sell them all off. Works nicely for bottlecap mines because more schematics = more mines built for the same amount of resource. I usually keep 50 or so then sell the rest.

Another money making moment I look forward to are the missions with lots Enclave around, I tend to lug every weopon and set of armor to the closest fast travel point and then start to haul it back home or take it straight to the vendors to cash in.

The biggest problem I find is I have too much stuff to sell against the vendors caps available. Thankfully Flak n Shrapnell stock mini nukes or whatever amo you need to use regularly so there's usually something to exchange it for.

Money making, well lets see. I made money by looting all corpses of those that attacked me first carrying all I could repairing duplicates up even if I didnt plan on keeping them. I then head on over to Rivet city where I get more caps for the junk and pawn it off on the different vendors.

For easy money, i.e. go get something and sell it while going through as few loading/menu screens as possible, I go somewhere that ants, scorpions, etc respawn and kill some. Good way to pick up XP too.

I've only just started playing - but i find if you put points into unarmed combat, get spiked knuckles, and use sneak a lot, you can take on low level critters like mole rats and easily kill them without incurring too much damage and then sell the meat. also, local raiders are pretty wimpy too - kill them with spiked knuckles (they do more damage than pistols, dont require ammo, are cheap to repair, and you have more AP available).
then either use the armour to repair your own, or repair it and sell it.

keep the.32 ammo for when you can get hold of a hunting rifle - it's a pretty good sniping weapon, and as .32 ammo is plentyful in the early part of the game, it's cheap to run. try to save the .10mm ammo for when you get a submachine gun - it's a good weapon but eats ammo like crazy.

i9f you put points into barter, you can make a few caps selling junk like ruined books, cups, empty bottles etc. there's a lot about and it can add up.

repair doesnt always pay off. sometimes you will get more by selling several individual damaged items than what you will get by sacrificing them to repair the best. at least in the PC version. i realise there are differences between the different platforms.

get Barter up fairly early in the game, kill animals, sell the meat. also, collect and sell any dirty water - its not fit for drinking, but its fit for selling.

get wadsworth to give you water, and then give that to Nicky. if you want to speed things up, give scrap metal to Walter. Once your Karma is high enough, you will get visited by a grateful citizen every morning at Megaton who will give you things - sometimes caps, sometimes things you can sell. you'll very quickly make back what you were kind enough to donate to a good cause.

Sugar Bombs, anyone?

Usually just day-to-day exploring, killing, looting, and selling works. If I max out a shops caps, I'll buy stuff from em. Mainly Stimpaks, which I have 500 or so of (yet I try to conserve them...). I have like 65 barter and 15k caps I think...

Well the easiest method for me to make quick caps is to simply loot ruins and the corpses of dead enemies and/or victims for valueable gear and carry as much as I can to Tenpenny Tower to sell, then just keep fast traveling back to these locations and waiting for merchants to restock untill I've sold everything and have lots of caps. It's not really my favorite, just the easiest way for me.

However since I'm roleplaying an evil business woman I'm going to try to be more creative. I'm going to invest in the caravans at Canterbury Commons and organize my own trade and since my character is based off somebody from another video game who was the CEO of a Pharmaceutical Company, she'll sell a lot of chems brewed from the My First Laboratory. She'll also loan out the services of her bodyguard Charon and use him as an assassin. :)

I have a Raider farm at Fairfax ruins. It's hilarious to fast travel in and hear the explosions as the re-spawning Raiders trigger the mines. Then I go strip the corpses, place new mines, then go elsewhere until the next crop is ready.

That's a great idea, might try that myself.

I agree, in both F3 and NV, I always end up with a ton of stuff and nothing to spend it on after about halfway through the levels. Mini-nukes and leather armour are the only things I buy regularly, it would be nice if in future games they addressed this imbalance by say introducing better looking but expensive armour or the ability to buy individual things for the house. Merchants should have more money to spend as the game goes along too.

Mostly looting and selling, though ever since I sold Flak into slavery Shrapnel's pretty much never available, so I have to wait for Chief Gustavo to restock, as he's got the ammo I need.
I'm too lazy to mezz and sell people often, since you have to return to Paradise Falls after every one. Occasionally though it's an alternative source of income.

I was pretty disappointed by the pathetic amount of caps I got from the slavers for the Lincoln memorabilia. At least they payed me for selling the slaves out... I think. :stare:

Speaking of repairs, what NPC has the highest skill.

The raider on MZ has 100 repair skill. Well, for me, anyways, and if you have MZ you probably won't need to ever repair your guns again withall of the Alien Epoxies you will get.

Collecting fingers (makes killing Talon Company Dorks, Enclave Nazis, and Outcast Technofetishists all the more fun), and Geomapping (and yes you get caps for everything you find). Paid for exploring! Nothing is better for me...well killing Talon Company, Enclave, and Outcasts is close.

Killing all the random scavengers and traders in the wasteland (other then the traveling caravan people) and then just selling all their stuff to Moira or someone in Rivet city.

Seems not very good source of money, but over time it adds up and works pretty well, considering you don't really need that much money in the game

Getting to canterbury commons and investing in the traders is, counter intrutiviley, a good way to get more money selling your loot. I really like how the cash you spend on repairs then goes into their kitty for trades.
Other than that, Zeta! The ammount of stuff up there is phenominal - providing you remember to dump all your stuff in the main engineeing department between trips to the other rooms, as they almost all become inaccesible after you've finished (although PC/mod uses need not worry about this)

Haven't done it but making dart guns looks a pretty good source of income, the schematics are available fairly early and easily and the components are plentiful, light and they're worth up to 500c.
