My mount-of-choice, both this play-through and the first, has been Arrowspeed, the horse provided by Castle Seaview once one becomes owner of that domicile. It's a right proper beast for a heavily armored knight or warrior with, in my opinion, the best looking head-ornament existent. http://i307.photobucket.com/albums/nn303/Decrepit_Waste/ESIV%20Oblivion/CK_WT2.jpg.
During my first play-through my avatar eventually settled into the role of a roving knight-errant, constantly ahorse seeking adventure and fulfilling contracts. The combination of the Seaview armor and mount were perfect for him, role-play and immersion wise. This play-through, due to the way we handled the Crisis (closing 52 gates in the process!) he became VERY committed to his role as Champion of Cyrodiil (and before that Divine Crusader, in which guise he tackled the Crisis), and now sees himself as a Servant of the Empire. As such he takes pride in his Imperial Dragon Armor and wears it rather than the Seaview armor. That being the case my original thought was to provide him with a different mount. I had settled on one of the armored horses from http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=26788. In the end I went with Arrowspeed again both to save an ESP slot and because Zira's horses, while visually excellent, use Medieval Earth-themed patterns rather than Cyrodiil themes.
I was thinking on this the other day, and am surprised that after four years no one has produced such a mod. One like Zira's only with Cyrodiil patterns. Horses whose "clothes" bear emblems for the game's major honorifics. One designed specifically for the Champion of Cyrodiil, whose cloth coloring and emblems complement the Imperial Dragon Armor. Likewise one for the Divine Crusader, Arch-mage and Fighters Guild. There could be horse armors that combine the various honorifics, since one can and often does become both Champion and Crusader, and well as head of at least one guild. (Assassins and thieves should of course be exempted, since those are clandestine organization which shun advertising.) Heck, even the more popular mods might be represented.
Back to the topic at hand, I always modify my mod-provided mounts so that they do NOT check corpses. The pauses caused by that used to drive me bonkers. Also, I slowed Arrowspeed down a good bit, since his standard speed seems too fast for an armored horse carrying a heavily armored knight-errant. In any case the game-world is small enough as it is. Traveling at a super fast rate of speed makes it seem that much smaller.
