Favorite Pre-War Outfit

Post » Sat May 28, 2011 8:53 pm

I know most people today think the fashion from the 1950's was kind of geeky, but in Fallout 3 I think it's actually very cool that it's what people wore before the bombs fell, and I like to collect and wear one of each pre-war outfit (but only the clean variety).

Anyways like the title says, which pre-war outfit and hat is your favorite? Now before anyone says it I know there's other outfits that technically count as "pre-war", but I thought I would only list the ones that actually have pre-war in the name.

My favorite pre-war outfit is the Parkstroller Outfit, especially on female characters because it's a green dress and green is my favorite color, and on male characters the grey collar shirt looks kind of stylish. I don't usually stick hats on my characters, but my favorite hat is the Bonnet because it's the only female clothing you can make male characters wear which is kind of amusing, but for female characters it does kind of match with the Spring or Parkstroller dress. :)

I like the Grimy Pre-War Businesswear and Pre-War Casual Wear. As hats, I like the Pre-War Hat, my only complaint is that the hat is drawn low, I wish it could look like a normal hat (worn normally instead of over your eyes like you're being shifty.)

Yeah, the Pre-War Bonnet is worn kind of crooked too. It's supposed to be hanging off the back of a woman's head, but instead they have it directly on top of the character's head like a cowboy hat and it just looks weird.

Well thats a sort of 'In the park' style the hat is worn it, but the Fedora look looks ridiculously goofy on a character. So it's basically a decoration on my desk at this point.

Argh! Thinking makes my head hurt! Which one is the one that Lydia Montenegro wears? I think that one and the Pre War Bonnet are my favorite. I can't stand the baseball cap. It actually makes me angry.

It depends on who is going to wear it. For example: I don't care for the pre-war bonnet myself, but I love to put it on the guys in the RC Marketplace. I think it looks great on Flak, Shrapnel and Bannon. I like the pre-war hat the best for my character.

As for the clothes, I'm not too fond of any of them. I prefer the Merc clothing.

That would be the Spring Outfit. :)

I noticed the Spring Outfit is very common Pre-War dress for female NPCs. Several ladies in Tenpenny Tower wear it (Lydia, Susan, Millicent), Linda from Andale wears one, the two ghoul ladies Gretta and Bessie each wear one, and both of Eulogy's bodyguards Crimson and Clover wear one. Maybe it was considered the most "in-style" dress before the bombs fell?

Ironic since the war was in October.

Also, I like female NPC's wearing Pre-War casual and relaxed wear dresses. The Short Sleeved ones arent very prettty IMO.

Well another theory I have is since it's called the "Spring" Outfit and obviously meant for warm weather, that many women in the Wasteland wear it so they can feel cooled-off in the hot desert sun.

Also I forgot to respond to what you were saying about hats. Every time I've seen women wear those straw bonnets (which is usually on TV) they always seemed to wear them hanging off the back of their head, so seeing it directly on top of a female character's head in Fallout 3 made me think that the developers just didn't give much thought into how the hat should look, but if you say so I guess I was wrong and that it is OK to be worn like that. :)

I don't like any of the hats best :sadvaultboy: The bonnets remind me of old Bugs Bunny cartoons where they'd use bonnets to impersonate women...or babies. Alas, I can't vote in the poll unless I choose an option from each question, hehe.

I like the business suit. I like how there's a female option and it's like a "power suit". I like the green dress, though -- parkstroller outfit, I believe -- but the casual wear is the worst.

Casual if you're a grandma...

^ I just fixed the poll so now you can vote. :)

For the most part I like business suits on women, but my problem with the female variants of the Dirty and Grimy Businesswear is that they come with neckties that make them look a little too dyke for my tastes. But I guess that's how female business suits from the 1950's were supposed to look?

And yeah Casualwear and Relaxedwear do look like something a grandma would wear, but maybe that's because all our grandmas were alive in the 1950's and that's what they grew up wearing? :P

I'm not sure I like any pre-war outfit any more then the other. I think that they are all equally unsuited to Wasteland exploration.

My favourite hat would have to be the baseball cap. Though I don't think that any self respecting advlt should wear one for fashion reasons. I use it (occasionally) for the +1 Perception bonus. I'm purely functional, me.

Dirty Business Wear and Pre-War Hat. The only bummer is that the Dirty Business Suit you get from Desmond does not stay white when you put it on. Otherwise I'd wear that everywhere.

I know one thing I really wish is that Fallout 3 had formal wear, like maybe a tuxedo for men and an evening gown for ladies like they used to wear in the 1950's. I know New Vegas has them and they would have been nice to have Fallout 3 aswell.

Grimy Businesswear and Pre-war Hat. My character uses stealth and the Stealth Armor doesn't exactly make her look like a professional Contract Killer

EDIT: Yet again, how many Contract Killers own the Stealth Armor?

I like the Prewar Dirty Business Suit. It is smart.

I voted for Prewar Springware and Prewar Bonnet though. They are pretty.

The Prewar Hat is good too.

I have only seen the female versions though.

I have not seen the male versions on the male Lone Wanderer.

I have seen the male version of the sixy Sleepwear on Dukov.

I keep a Grimy Business Suit or Dirty Business Suit and the Prewar Bonnet or Prewar hat on me most of the time in case I need to do a difficult speech challenge.
