Favorite Rap/hip-hop Song

If you want to place it in that context, I guess you're right.
But I can definitely statistically back up my claims. With everything I've said in this thread.

Please do, curiosity has gotten the better of me.

IF you talkin metaphors you best be adding Bizzy to the top of the list

Bizzy Bone is great, but I wouldn't put him #1. :P I'd say top 5, sure.
@Kgork, you want me to give you proof that Lil' Wayne isn't unoriginal? Because that's what I was referring too when I said that it's fact. That he is indeed original. I didn't specify which series of album I was talking about, I didn't specify which part of his style I was talking about.
To talk about the first, yes, it's not my opinion that he is indeed original, that is fact, because no other artist rhymes the way he does with limericks and metaphors like him. It's pretty hard to say that isn't fact when no one else does it like him.
It's pretty obvious that is the reason why so many people dislike him. Because his "unique" style isn't their cup of tea. It takes a special type of person to be a weezy fan. And I definitely understand those who aren't.

Agreed I wouldn't put him at #1 either maybe 3 maybe 5, but very close to the top

Another one of my personal favorites is Ghostface killa. While not necessarily known for his metaphors he is great at "storytellin" rap.

Has anyone heard the new Wu-Massacre yet? I was wondering if its worth it.

Because all that I've heard is the mainstream trash that's always on the "top 100 lists". I'm open to trying to listen to good rap, though.

2pac ghetto gospel

3 hours, 22 minutes. Longer than I expected, in truth.

I like a lot of Immortal Technique for the emotional depths he plumbs. Dance With the Devil is horrifying, You Never Know is tragic and Beef and Broccoli is hilarious.

Immortal technique dance with the devil is one of my favourites

99 Problems. Actually the only hip-hop song I enjoy listening to (that I know of).

Love that

I like loads of hip hop and rap so i can't really list a favourite but the artists i listen to are
2pac (awesome)
Immortal technique
Eminem (Favourite rapper of all time)
Outkast
DMX
Dr Dre
Jay Z

theres more but i can't think of them all right now...

Not going to link to it but Wastin' Time by Ol Dirty Bastard is definitely my favourite rap song. I usually just listen to him because he's hilarious. This song I can actually relate to though.. it's quite emotional :violin:

Magic-B.o.B.
The Kids-B.o.B.
Satellite-B.o.B.

Youtube has them up but they will probably be taken down since the CD has not come out yet.

Threw on Jay-Z for the first time in a while this morning while I was getting ready for work. "Young Forever" came on. Such a chill song. Then I was sad when I realized I had taken him off my MP3 player a couple months ago because I was running out of space :(

I'm not sure what the point of this Lil Wayne is good/bad argument is, it's devolved into something like this:

A: Lil Wayne is good.
B: Nuh-uh!
A: Yah-ah!
B: Nuh-uh!

It's getting nowhere. I like Lil Wayne, there are other rappers I like more, but I like Lil Wayne. If someone else hates the guy, and there's plenty of people who do, I don't care. Hate whatever you want, all i ask is that you keep it to yourself if it does nothing to further the discussion. I'd say the same if someone kept posting over how awesome he is withough any actual context that adds to the discussion at hand here. Some of us like his music, some of us don't, that's all there is to the argument. Let's face it, the ones among us that like Lil Wayne are not going to convert the haters, and they won't convert us either, so all we're doing is arguing back and forth with neither side getting anywhere, let's just lay it to rest.

Someone posted Forever by Drake feat. Kanye West, Lil Wayne and Eminem earlier. I've been listening to that a lot lately, bought it off iTunes and I'm completely addicted to it. I might actually check out more of Drake's stuff, I liked what I heard.

Yeah, once again Eminem kills the verse. Although, I can't seem to find a uncensored version of the song on youtube, so I haven't even heard the real thing.
Every damn video is a stupid Vevo commercial video that's cut.

Snip

We had laid it to rest, but sense you brought it back up  .....

I don't care if someone like him or not and I don't hate him I just don't see how so many can be so in love with his music. He should not be considered the best rapper alive either. Also hes a bitter.

I don't think he's the best rapper alive, he's the biggest one right now without a doubt, but not the best. Personally I've always though Jay-Z held that title, and I'm sure lots of people will disagree.

Eminem, IMO, holds the title of best rapper alive.

I just heard a song by Jay-Z called "Moment of Clarity" (awesome song) where he says;

If skills sold
Truth be told
I'd probably be
Lyricly
Talib Kweli
Truthfully
I wanna rhyme like Common Sense
(But i did five Mil)
I ain't been rhymin like Common since

So, no, Jay-Z is not the greatest. He admitted it himself. I'll put another vote up for Eminem.

Also, listening to "Forever" again and again, Lil' Wayne isn't half bad. He doesn't make crazy, off-the-wall metaphors. He doesn't leave out words in phrases ("I got her runnin' back and forth...soccer team" ~ "Bedrock"). It's a chill verse that actually sounds pretty good.

But he's gotta stop teaming up with Eminem cause Em just keeps stealing every song haha.

I love Weezy but Em definitely has the best rapper alive title

EDIT: and Spanky, they better not stop teaming up even though Em steals the song because it sounds sick

I've been in a Tupac mood today, I don't know why. Listened to like 20 of his songs so far on youtube, he's really great.
California Love, Untouchable, Only God Can Judge Me, Life Goes On.
And without a doubt one of my favorite songs of all time.

There's no doubt that Eminem is talented, when he's at his best he is amazing, but he's been making so much crap in recent years that I just kind of stopped listening. His performance in Forever by Drake is great though, I like it when he does is more "hardcoe" stuff, that's the only word I can think of to describe it, that's what he's good at in my opinion. Still though, Jay-Z beats him for me, I've seen Jay-Z live and it was the third best show I've been to, only beaten by Foo Fighters (Who I've loved for years and probably always will, Dave Grohl was a big part of my childhood and early teens) and AC/DC who are simply legends, that show kicked all kinds of ass.

EDIT: Bedrock...wow, that whole song is based on a horrible pick up line, I don't really like that song. If you search for Todd in the Shadows on youtube he has a review of that song, and lots of other great reviews you should check out on current popmusic.

Oh and, Gudda Gudda? Seriously? He couldn't find a better name than that? Come on.
