Also...Although I'm not a huge NWA fan, I do enjoy most of the stuff by Eazy-E, just because it's so funny. Nobody Move is a classic.

It's hard to follow a lot of his stuff because he goes by so many different monikers, but here's a comprehensive list of stuff he's done you may have not heard of:

KMD - Mr. Hood and Black Bastards -- KMD was a group from the 90's that wasn't that popular but received critical acclaim. MF Doom (he was then known as Zev Love X) was their most prominent member.

As MF Doom - Operation: Doomsday, MM...Food and Born Like This

As King Geedorah - Take Me to Your Leader

As Viktor Vaughn - Vaudeville Villain

As Danger Doom (collaboration with producer Danger Mouse) - The Mouse and the Mask

As Madvillain (collaboration with producer Madlib) - Madvillainy

That's a lot of stuff, but it's all good. But as a starting point I would go with Madvillainy (top 5 hip-hop albums of all-time), Vaudeville Villain and Born Like This.

Awesome, thanks a lot for taking the time to put the list together :)

I actually just discovered Brother Ali earlier today. Can safely add him to my list of top artists. I dare you to listen to http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6ScPoBEFl1Y&feature=related without a big grin on your face.

He's definitely one of my favorites. I've been listening to him for a few months now.

I also thought of a couple more I left off my list I posted the other day. Anyone who likes underground hip hop should check out Cunninlynguists and Classified. Both very good.

Beat Without Bass - Lil Wayne

So amazing. Listen to them.

I thought that song was pretty generic and lacked any sort of true feelings other than "COME BACK".

Not sure if the Beastie Boys count, but if they do, Intergalactic. If not, whatever, I'm not much of a rap guy.

Well I don't believe you can get it on iTunes or anything but http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7laLCnQp2hg youtube video has a download link so it's not illegal persay, otherwise youtube would've removed it.

I would have thought you would know the answer to that question. ^_^
Literally 90% of lil waynes music is free. That's one of the things I like about him so much, and respect him for it. The only albums that you can "buy" of his, are his Carters, Rebirht, Lights Out, 500 Degrees, and The Block is Hot. (those last three were his first albums before the carter original, with the hot boyz)
His Leaks series, Drought series, and all his other mixtapes, where the majority of his music comes from, is 100% free to download from anywhere on the internet.
A quote from him from a interview,
"All my music is free. Cept' my carters. Pay for dem'. If you buy a mixtape of mine, you got ripped off. Straight."
Essentially, he gives his music away for free. He makes well enough from the Carter series.
So if you download any of his songs NOT on those albums listed above, it's not illegal. It's actually promoted, by him.

I'd say my favorite Hip-Hop song would have to be Forgot About Dre by Dr Dre featuring Eminem. However, I pretty much like anything by Eminem, especially his verse in Forver and his verse in Drop the Word. I wish I could get a version of Drop the Word without Lil Wayne's part, as I cannot stand him.

This thread needs more funky hip-hop.

And you won't find better lyricism than this:

Holy [censored], that's awesome :D That's a great attitude really, it's rare to see an artist who realizes he's making enough money :P
