Restoration
I made myself a spell that increased my marksman and agility by what 50-100 ( that was a while back haven't been playing magic user characters lately ) for like 5 seconds just enough to fire one arrow and that was a one shot kill I guess. Its one of the best magic arts to mess with I think the spell was called Power Shot or something like that.

By the way Alchemy isnt a School of Magic or magic art.. its something else..
I'm even surprised that people voted alchemy.

Can't beat paralyze and invisibility.

Still not sure why paralyze is in illusion though, unless it's "paralyze with fear" or something.

That's the way I view it. Like an illusory mind control spell, it convinces the victim that they are powerless to control their limbs. I suppose there could be other views, but partly because it is considered an illusion spell, I like this one.

I suppose if it were not illusion, it would go into the 'gee, I'm not sure' box called mysticism. Lol.

I would have made it an alteration spell. Altering some of the synapses/chemistry in the body.

I've always looked at Paralyze as an Illusion spell. I RP that when ever I cast Paralyze that I've just summoned up a memory in the that person which would cause them to freeze in terror, almost like someone you thought was dead is now stood in front of you.

You could even say that Paralyze could come under Mysticism but I'm not to sure as to how that would work.

Alchemy is not a Magic School. It is however a Magic Skill. School's define castable spells, this isn't just TES but every RPG Fantasy game that I have played. Alchemy always falls as a skill. In what way can you cast Alchemy? The question by the orginal OP was what was your favourite school of magic and spell, so how does Alchemy fall into this.

I've not got anything againest Alchemy, I use it an awful lot on both of my characters but I don't believe that it is a true magic.

Undead being affected by paralyze pretty much destroys the notion of it being a fear spell.

Hope I didn't ruin the "logic" of the spell for ya RP-wise. Heh.

Favourite school: Restoration. But my favourite spell is one that creates a ring of stones around the caster that crushes and throws away every enemy that touches it. It's just endless fun to lapidate losers to death :D

Favorite school of spells is Illusion. There's a lot of useful variety between invisibility, charm, paralysis...

Favorite specific spell, however, is a custom one I made after hours of running away from undead: "Exorcism." Touch to do timed fire damage to target and cast turn undead in a 10-foot radius. (In retrospect, for the name it probably should've actually involved a soul trap effect, but mostly I just like the image of setting a lich on fire and seeing his zombie guards run away in fear.)

Lightning on target. Best (though least efficient) when it svcks up lots of magicka but fries things instantly. Very satisfying.
