That's right, what's your favorite spell?

It can be bought or one you made yourself. Let the conversing begin!

I made a spell called Ultimate Inferno it does 100pts of fire damage for 4seconds on touch. It was a toss up for me because I also like to use summon Storm atronarch and watch him beat up on things.

Sorry Alteration for me. I love Illusion aswell however.

I love the fact that Alteration can be as useful as you choose it to be where as other spell schools are normally either forgetton about, over used or used for the wrong reasons. I like the fact of being able to carry zero lockpicks and open chests (I have a mod for allowing Touch Unlock Spells), casting shields on myself and my summons along with being able to make my foes stop dead with Burden. You also can't forget lightening your load with the odd feather spell or two aswell as being able to breath underwater.

I do however want to point out that although Alchemy comes under the 'Magic' Skills I don't deem it to be a true school of Magic. From my understanding of RP and Magicka in general it doesn't infact use Magicka so can not be called a form or school of Magic.

Fave school: Illusion.

Fave spell: Too many to choose from; fortunately, we don't have to!

Here's what UESP wiki says: "There are six schools of magic in Oblivion: Alteration, Conjuration, Destruction, Illusion, Mysticism, and Restoration. Every spell belongs to one of these schools, and your ability to cast a given spell is determined by your skill level in that school. The seventh magical skill is Alchemy, which allows you to create your own potions and poisons."

School, skill, whatever.

I keep it simple. Restoration and my healing spell with 50 health in 2 sec.

I voted for Illusion as it's my personal favourite skill. Spell, would be invisibility or Command creature/humanoid.

However, Helena wanted me to put her word forward as well. Her favourite school is obviously Restoration, and her favourite spell is restore health on other. That said, she enjoys paralyse and silence in Necromancer dungeons. Especially when combined with a summon and invisibility.

Restoration, staying alive and at the top of your game is more useful than anything else imho.

Favourite spell, bit boring, but once I can cast cure disease, I feel like a character is finally getting somewhere, and it is invaluable with the amount of zombies I come across tomb raiding, and the amount of vampires I hunt.

Alchemy, hands down. Most interesting to research (what goes with what so it′s in fact the only option that you actually research) and the most interesting to use

Destruction

I made a spell that does fire, shock, paralyze, absorb health, soul trap and its respective weaknesses at master level. Far more powerful than the game can offer. It's called Void. My archer uses it when baddies get too close. You'd think that they would learn, when one of their battle buddies gets burnt to a crisp if I touch them. But they keep coming, and I'm happy to accommodate them.

Illusion, Frenzy.

Though I really like, likes, liked, liking conjuration too.

Illusion+Conjuration is a great combo.

And actually of those listed I might prefer Alchemy. It's arguably the most powerful skill in the game. However I voted Illusion because Alchemy is not considered a typical magic skill, since it doesn't use magicka and does not involve spells or even enchantments. Note that in Skyrim alchemy is moved to a stealth skill, vs a magic skill.

How in the name of Molag Bal is it considered a stealth skill?? It has way more to do with magic if you ask me! Plants and the like has magical properties that can be harnessed. However I see the difficulty in a tomato or fennel sneaking up on you

My custom-made Command spell with a 15 foot radius and 15 second duration lasts just long enough for the three or four enemies it hits to kill the one or two it doesn't. Illusion is so fantastic.

Alchemy is a stealth skill because of poisons, and they needed to make room for Enchanting (which is decidedly NOT a stealth skill).

Restoration is my favorite but Illusion is a close second. Restoration is my favorite because of the convenience of being able to restore everything and being able to cure disease and poison. My favorite restoration spell has to be Lich Leech, my custom combo absorb spell. It absorbs magicka, health, and fatigue over a few seconds in a large area. I don't make it until I've mastered restoration, and when I fight groups of enemies it is super effective. It also looks really cool in 3rd person.

I picked Restoration, but for a Pure Mage it's not great on it's own. However, Restoration really comes into it's own when combined creatively. If you are a master of it, even summoning a zombie then insanely buffing it is more cost effective, and funny, to decimate your foes. Fortify Speed + Water Walking on a horse will get you anywhere quick. The list goes on...

Of course, it was a pretty close match. I could have picked Destruction, Alteration, Conjuration, Illusion... really only not Alchemy or Mysticism. While I'm sure Zakarius Svedlin will chime in on Alchemy's usefulness, I found useful ingredients to hard to buy and too long to find, so it quickly became useless. Mysticism, while interesting, is really undeveloped. Because Reflect Damage is not normally available as a spell, it felt like it was good for two things: fighting mages (reflect/absorb spell) or detecting life. Forgetting, of course, the gigantic clusterf**k that was telekinesis.

They didn't have that problem in Morrowind, where both Alchemy and Enchanting were magic skills.

I don't bother with the Area of Effect for Command. You get the job done just by targeting whoever looks the toughest in the group. :)

My custom Illusion spell is a combined Command Humanoid and Command Creature, with a short duration (five seconds is enough to get the fight started.) That one spell works for all enemies. I follow that with Invisibility, which I don't come out of until it's time to cast Command again (I usually move to a new location while invisible, to keep from being detected.)

You all say Invisibility but you forget Camelion is much better you can use things and open doors without losing it unlike Invisibility. (Just my opinion)

Chameleon doesn't keep you invisible what with the percentage of invisibility it actually provides. In most cases, without sneak, it gets you caught while pretending you're invisible. :S In my opinion, recast invisibility right after you grab some stuff :D You can't catch me!

At Journeyman Illusion (50) you have access to 30 seconds of invisibility. For the same Magicka cost, you'll only get about 25% chameleon, so you'd have to work out a way of getting the other 75% out of it. Full Chameleon is game breaking anyway, so most players find it boring.

Chameleon, in my opinion, is for the Sneak type character. Mages are more likely to prefer Invisibility, because the effect is so cheap to cast that it can be included in multi-function custom spells.
