Favorite Stronghold

Post » Sat May 28, 2011 12:19 am

Just curious which of the strongholds is your favorite, and why?

I've had the game for years now but never bothered with them until recently. I thought about redoran, but didn't care for the location, so decided on Hlaalu instead. I love that area between hla oad and balmora, so it was perfect.

Which do you prefer?

(I don't intend for this to include 'hints' and whatnot, but if it steers that way and it gets moved I won't complain)

I prefer the Hlaalu Stronghold too, and for the same reasons as you do and because the Dunmer Stronghold Hlormaren is nearby. I allways move there when I run out of space in my house.

Tel Uvirith.

It looks amazing and very wizardly and has lots of surfaces to display your collection.

A divine intervention from Tel Uvirith gets you to Sadrith Mora, an Almsivi to Molag Mar..
but.. an Almsivi intervention by the Dwemer ruins very near it will transport you to Pelagiad.

Pretty much this. I can't say right off the bat which of them is my favorite. All are kinda good in my opinion. While a little remote, this isn't an issue except maybe for a Redoran, and even then Almsivi Intervention takes you to Ald'Ruhn where the other councilmen live. Those weird Hlaalu and hermit Telvanni people live here and there whatsoever; your location ain't that weird. :P

Also, the fact that especially Tel Uvirith is kind of small is just realism, I think. The other towers have been up for hundreds of years, so they have evolved into settlements already. People have had time to move there and stay there. This is not the case with Uvirith, which is small for this particular reason, I think. The tower itself is cool. So are the Redoran and Hlaalu manors though, especially Redoran.

Mmh. Just can't decide. None is clearly better or worse than the others. I, too, like the terrain the most near the Hlaalu stronghold. Actually it's either swamp or green, depending on which side you climb down. :P Beats the barren wastelands in Uvirith's Grave and Bal Isra. Though, a true Telvanni couldn't care less, I think.

I've even gotten into every house's philosophy with at least one character, so, I can't name a favorite even by thinking what my favorite house would be. I just can't decide, you know. :/

Remoteness
+ Telvanni
+ Hlaalu
- Redoran

Terrain
+ Hlaalu
+ Telvanni (they don't care how it looks outside)
- Redoran

Special feel
+ Hlaalu
+ Redoran
+ Telvanni

NPCs
+ Redoran
+ Hlaalu
- Telvanni (those stairs to the other peoples' house are horrible, and the dwemer animunculi inside the tower is always in the way)

So, uh, Hlaalu, even though I actually care of them the least at the moment?

Another vote for Tel Uvirith. I loved my tower in the middle of nowhere. A perfect retreat for my reclusive Telvanni character. Once the time was right, Tel Uvirith expanded, along with all of House Telvanni (mods, although my character didn't know that >.>).

Hlaalu. It just feels the most homey. If I could choose in real life, it'd feel the most welcoming architecturally. And it still has walls and an archer tower. :)

I thought they were all a little too secluded for me, but i liked hlaalu the most, mainly because of the fact that it's located in the middle of where i usually play.

Tel Uvirith - you get a proper dungeon! And I love the bleak outlook. The other two are a little too conventional for most of my characters.

None of them really.

They all are either too small or dont have the features that i want/need. Like ample storage room, ease of access, or aesthetic arrangement.

Take the redoran one, it essentially has only one room for the player. The rest are inhabited by useless NPC's, that dont even have interesting (or basic) dialogue options; and their training levels are so low they are basically nothing but furntiure.

This is why the player strongholds are modded so much, cos in their original form they are too dull and useless.

I'm going to have to go against the grain here and say the Indarys Manor (Redoran stronghold). Mainly because of its location and architecture. Even without mods, I prefer it to the others. :)

Hlaalu used to be my favorite and is still tied for first because I love when it rains but the Redoran stronghold felt bigger and had more people in it.

Telvanni. It's a bit harder to get to than Hlaalu, but I don't mind since it has the best feel in my opinion. Hlaalu comes in second, with Redoran a long way behind.

Gonna say Tel Uvirith. It's a lot bigger, and I prefer House Telvanni architecture.

Tel Uvirith has always been my favorite, followed fairly closely by Indarys Manner. Mostly, these choices come from how much I like the respective Houses.

I haven't even gotten my Redoran or Telvanni stronghold yet. All I know is that the Hlaalu stronghold svcks. It's so tiny, and there's absolutely nothing to do.

Same here. Rethan Manor is too conventional for me, and Tel Uvirith makes me feel like Poison Ivy.

Tel-Uvrith the Telvanni stronghold. it is so awesome with its combination of telvanni architecture and the dwemer animunculi.
