In New Vegas there are innumerable weapons and weapon modifications, my personal favorite is pretty much anything with a scope and preferably bolt-action. So I just thought I'd ask and get everyone elses opinion. Please leave answers in the comment section below.

I like the scoped weapons too, so usually end up with Christine's rifle. Also like silenced weapons, so I usually carry a silenced pistol until I can afford Sleepytime.

Not the biggest energy weapons fan, but the fully-modded Holorifle would be my favorite of that type.

In pretty much every Fallout game I've played I end up as a diplomatic type who isn't afraid to fight. For the combat skill to go with it I usually end up as sneaky sniper type. In Fallout New Vegas there are several silenced rifles that really suit this play style from the modded Varmint Rifle up to Christine's COS Sniper Rifle.

That said pistols (compared to that pesky "real world" thing) are ridiculously overpowered and accurate and they have the appeal of a "gunslinger" play style. I'll usually have A Light Shining in the Darkness as my back up for the Legionary Assassin ambushes and then a modded War Club for fly swatting low level critters. I've also played a Maverick style conman/gunslinger with just Lucky and a Lead Pipe and I had a lot of fun with that.

For helping me out of a lot of tight spots in Dead Money, has to be the Holorifle. For the backstory, the Survivalist's Rifle. And for the sheer deadliness in close combat the fully modded katana. Pistols a toss up between Lucky and A Light Shining In Darkness.

i prefer the semi sniper type with if possible the all american rifle and a good handgun ' that gun as back up and same ammo and for melee the powerfist and variants because of its light weight

i like energy weapons slightly more than guns. the alien blaster is the most deadly mid range weapon. also i like machine gun type weapons such as The Sprtel-Wood 9700. secondary weapon skill, melee. like The katana and The thermic lance.
