[REQUEST] favorites

hi all

i hereby want to make a request for having favorite weapon/class combinations u can select on the fly
ie when u select engineer u get a certain setup u previously made and a different one when u select medic etc
Ideally this would INCLUDE BODYTYPE

this way it would add way more tactics to the game since now theres 2 ways ppl play: either they stick to cookiecutter for a whole evening
OR they spend ages inside a console especially at start of maps fiddling with a nice looking but not very functional weapons menu while the enemy sets up a spawnraqe

I see 2 ways of getting this done

Either u have some favorite setups premade for each class
or u make different characters which u can select ingame on the fly (the most thorough option but it requires u to level each one of em)

However im not a game designer and i dont pretend to be one, but please add something like this coz it will make tactical brink so much more rewarding



furthermore, but this is maybe asking too much, it would be nice to have more class restrictions on weapons
a soldier with a sniper rifle is ridiculous (because of ammo) just as a light body with a minigun is
As it is now classes and weapons dont seem very distinct and the only reason u switch classes is because u need some objective not because u need some functionality
At this moment one could imagine needing a minigun but this is not something u can switch to ingame since it requires a bodytype change
So there is distinct functionality but it isnt usable because it requires u to exit the server, this makes adapting to different objectives/maps/situations a pain.


what do u guys think?


(before anyone says anything me and my clan of around 30 ppl are enjoying this game just as we enjoyed etqw)

Im against switching body types or characters on the fly.

Here's what you'd have with body types switching: the whole team on heavy with miniguns when you need to defend a certain spot or escort, a whole team of lights when there is something to deliver or anything else mobile. Adding the ability to switch body types (Even if it to pick a "favorite" type) won't work imo and will ruin the balance.

Gameplay wise it is perfect imo, just needs some graphical tweaks and some lag fixes and that's it. The class restricted weapons could work though. It did in Battlefield, and I love me some BF.

I agree with NME and you really dont need the weapon favorites cause you just add attachjments then switch to it at a command post.
They do need a little bit bigger selection of weapons for light tho cause there are like 2 smgs that are good and the pistols are okay tho

in brink u select medic u get a setup and when u change to engineer u keep the same setup i would like to configure that seperately
so u spend LESS time in the silly command console

the reason i want to include bodytype is because thats the only thing that restricts weapons at the moment
the argument that it would imbalance things is something that is pure speculation without it being tried
fyi in tribes u could switch bodytypes just as easy as weapons and it didnt imbalance things one bit


either way its all about being able to select different setups fast where as now u change class but not setup

I do agree with the class thing. Big Battlefield fan.

But the old phrase "You can't have your cake and eat it too" Sums up my dislike for the body type switching idea. Ok maybe it wouldn't imbalance things since EVERYONE would be doing it, but it would take the diversity out of the game.

Think about it, what would you rather have when defending an area? The type with most health and biggest,strongest guns. Correct! EVERYONE would do it, and then switch to the next feasible type for the next objective. If they allow that, they might as well just make medium the only choice, and give it all the benefits of light/heavy combined just to save the trouble of switching every time.

i actullay cant play if im not light and for some reason everyone dies at the same pace when im using the carb or galatic smg

naaaah, Galactic/Cross/Bull-something SMG + the machine pistol + lightspeed = giggity gooo

how about

u can change character but only before a map starts
that way u need to lvl 3 characters to get to choose 3 body types
but only before match not in the match

this way i dont need to leave our very busy server which is always full
or if u play arranged matches have people disconnect to change body type
