Favourite Kind of Kill

Post » Wed Feb 03, 2016 5:07 pm

So, I think besides the brutal beheading cutscene of an enemy, I've come to appreciate the effects of a powerful Lingering Damage Health poisoned arrowhead being lodged into an enemy at a distance. It's great to watch them stand up and try to find you, if they're powerful enough not to get one-shot killed by the arrow, only to drop horrifically dead in front of their buddies after 3 steps, their weapons and shields falling to the ground. I like to imagine what the scene must be like to them or to one of their nearby buddies witnessing it. You're going to die in 3 seconds... and there's nothing you can do about it... go!

I like the lingering damage poisons too. Normally a sneak attack on the bandit outside Embershard Mine with some Frostbite venom is enough that he charges me and lifts back his weapon only to drop dead at my feet - very satisfying.

In terms of kill cams I like the one handed axe 'tennis shot', can really feel the power behind it.

I'm a big fan of the one-handed leaping stab. A standing archery kill-cam is another favorite.

My favorite is the neck break from behind.

Making Draugr activate the swinging spike wall thingy. Makes me  every time.

For a weapon kill, there's nothing more impressive than decapitating a bandit with a warhammer.

Extreme range sniping. Somewhere beyond 'detect life' range that requires Aura Whisper and/or zooming in to find the target. Far enough that when a foe is taken down, his pals run around in circles for a few moments but really have no clue where to even begin looking for the sniper.

Kill cam archery shots on draugr are neat. I like how they leave a pretty trail of blue from their eyes as the arrow slams them backwards.

Delivering a killing blow to bandits while they 're in the middle of a forward power attack and see them drop dead behind you due to momentum. Such a satisfying and badass kill.

Two handed axe straight down into a dragon's skull. Sneaky kill cam shot on a Falmer. Most beheadings.

Ah yes... environmental kills are fun. Especially the ones put into the level design that should not be overlooked. Like lit candles in ceramic pots hovering over pools of oil. They don't often kill the target, but it's still fun to watch em burn.

Yessss... I had an enemy charging me once starting to say, "You never should have come here", except in mid-sentence I chopped his head off. I was happy that the audio was in sync because as soon as my blade severed his head, he stopped speaking.

That's exactly the joy I was speaking of. I was in Broken Oar Grotto where there are lots of opportunities for long rang sniping. I had my Lingering Damage Health poisoned arrowheads with me... yay.

Oooooo. A bloodthirsty topic......intruiging.

Ok.....tricky for me.....I prefer the kinder ending of a straight forward decap cut scene. However I do have some really strong paralyse poisons with a lingering damage health kicker of 32pts/s for 10 s. This is a useful Mage stopper.

However, here's the um...flip side. My CHAR Adella exhibits her predecessor's (Ulda) predeliction for a more punishing end to mortal npc's. One of her favourites is the Marked for Death shout which inevitably ends up with bandit types crawling at her feet with the equivalent of about 10000 rads radiation sickness ( I mean for real....it's not a FO4 reference ok). The game is limited to just dropping the npcs health and making them glow with a mottled purple. But if you think about what this shout is all about...."Krii....Lun....Aus" ( Kill....Leech....Suffer) the "reality" would have them in minutes starting to bleed from every orrafice with instant rotting of their internal organs, teeth dropping out along with their hair and the worst sun burn you ever did see. I think it is dreadful, but Adella (not surprisingly) has that cruel steak that Ulda had. Ulda also used to burn low level bandits into the snow with her Racial flame spell......thank goodness I have not seen Adella do that yet.

Personally I don't have any need or desire to see bandits horribly tortured to death, I find it all rather distasteful actually, but these girls....I just don't know where their head is at. I used to say to Ulda "c'mon hon, at least let the pleading cowering bandit guy go". She never did......

Being an Archer exclusively,I just love the satisfying "thunk" of that "Missile of Death" sent from my fire and stamina damage enchanted Dragonbone Bow. Used in conjunction with a "deadly aversion to fire" potion it does amazing damage. Watching that bandit, draugr or falmer take the hit and fly several feet into the air....ouch...bet that hurt! :hubbahubba:

I have always enjoyed the various 1h-sword kill moves, but i'm especially fond of hurling a firebolt at an enemy and getting the slow-mo kill cam for that....something about seeing a flaming ball of death fly toward the enemy and hurl them backwards on fire :)

Though in the end I suppose it's not much different to the effect you get with a fire enchanted bow....

I had a great one of these from far away, once! Coming down from Azura's Shrine, I saw an ice wolf by the half wall and let loose from on top of the cliff. Slo-mo all the way down and BAM!

I've seen my favorite one once or twice thus far: The hamstring to bring them to their knees then crossed blades to scissor their head off.

Ooh, I forgot about that one. I might have to switch my thief to duel daggers once my 1h skill gets higher!

Yay! I have recently acquired Mehrune's Razor and am now on the way to acquiring the Blade of Woe. I will become the ultimate dual-wielding death beast.

Exactly this.

I like the extreme range shots. The longest range at which the game will render a target. I remember wearing an entire enchanted suit of detect life, in Oblivion. I would go out at night and try to shoot the little pink dots that were, seemingly 3 cells away.

The vanilla game's range in Skyrim was so limited, you could actually see the arrow shoot through the target. Thankfully I was able to adjust this via the ini file, when I moved to PC. Without using any mods to adjust the trajectory, I was shooting upwards of 7 times the height if the NPC to hit them.

Great times, that I seldom grow tired of.

Any stealth kill pleases me. Sniping an enemy from a distance. However pick pocketing briarhearts is a hobby of mine. :P

I really enjoy the classic throat slit but recently I passed lvl. 50 on 1H and I think that is required for a spin move slash and shank because it never happened at lower levels but I just recently started power attacking 1H so I could be wrong.

I'll fight a Draugr Deathlord 2H until he drops to one knee then pull out the dagger when he gets up and SPIN SHANK!! straight to where his heart would be, that is so freaking cool man.

I also really like picking somebody up with the sword straight through their body... its a toss up.

Oh Yeah, I've come to love the ranged sniping....if I choose a poisoned shot, I really like the 'Slow' against magic users, :D or giants if I have a bounty for one. Slow + the archery perk = dead.

Ugh. I really hate all of them. Yeah, I can kill with the best of them, but I REALLY don't want kill-cams about it.

Same here, long range sniping, more fun then you have multiple arrows in the air at once and you see the other guy falls too in the killcam:)

Since I tend to play Vampires, I like the sneak-feed option added by Better Vampires. Although otherwise I find the be-headings satisfying, along with the backstabs.

But the funniest one I've ever gotten, happened twice. Using the Ice Spike spell, I got a kill-cam on a wolf. Hit him right in the nose. I also have a mod that makes the ice meshes used for that spell longer. Yep, Narwolf.
