Favourite 'Little Things'

Post » Wed Dec 24, 2014 2:50 pm

There are so many little Easter-eggs in Skyrim based around it's lore and real life pop culture. I've found a lot of cool things in these past... what... two-and-a-half years I've been playing Skyrim? For example, my two favourite Easter-eggs are The headless horseman, (Even though I've only found him twice, and every time I followed him my game crashed, but I did have a terrible computer back then) and the Mead mixed with Juniper berries that Ralof mentions when we first get to Helgen. (You can find it in the house you jump into when Ralof takes you into the tower right after nearly getting decapitated.)

So, what are your favourite little things?

I love finding the small "tableaus", For example, the hazards of being a wandering Alchemist... there are several dead alchemist scenes.

Or finding a pack, a sword and a fallen rock with a skeletal arm reaching out. Those sorts of things, just found spots as you wander. (They did that in FO3 too.)

I also love finding the various shrines to the divines. Some are really tucked away.

My favourite is probably the house in Markarth with some cheese, garlic and glow dust on a shelf that looks like Pacman! I found it by accident the first time and did a massive double-take. That or the Notched Pickaxe - also found by accident (my first character loved climbing to places Lydia couldn't get to just to get away from her).

I think it's cool that your character's face gets mean when fighting.

I simply adore the 'presence' that horses exude. They headtrack the player, swish their tails, their manes and tails both have flowing physics, their breathing, snorting, they can rear on command, . . . .

I absolutely love the many references to earlier Elder Scrolls...especially Morrrowind which was and still is the greatest game of alltime..loved seeing ash yams, sujamma, matze etc on Solstheim..together with the Redoran architecture it really brought back some great memories..its really cool that they keep the history of TES exact..love hearing about Red Mountain erupting and the Argonians invading...very cool stuff but alas is nothing left of Vvardenfel?? And oh, while we're at it what happened to the Mages Guild??

I have a hunch this might snowball into a serious spoiler topic, so be careful people!

Some of my favourites are LOTR kill counter reference, star wars reference (the skeleton in a cave, hanging above his sword) and the The Headless Horseman.

I loved reading "On Oblivion", the Skyrim book. When I read it the first time, I got goosebumps. "This is about me!", I thought...

I also do a double-take when I see Temba Wide-Arm in Ivarstead...(all you Star Trek fans will know that one)
