Favourite site to raid

Post » Mon Jul 18, 2011 9:33 am

It has varied, but I′ve always enjoyed a good ol′ cave. Not too many traps to worry about and I like the more 'alive' feeling it gives me compared to dead stone in a ruin or fort. Mines are a nice touch too but I′ll stick with the caves as my favourite sites to explore.

So, what say you?

Alyeid ruins some can be really interesting and the crazy traps add more challenge and strategy to an enemy encounter

As much as the traps can be infuriating, I still prefer the forts and ayleid ruins. I like the caves, but I can't say I'm fond of the mines at all. There seem to be a lot of useless wooden structures in them, which serve only as hiding places for Orcs with Axes. Big Orcs with Big Axes.

Forts, because of the 'castle' type feel, burning braziers and neat traps.

Ayleid ruins and Forts.

There is no history behind caves or mines.

Though all that should change with Skyrim, apparently there will be overgrown caves, ice caverns and all sorts of other goodies :hubbahubba:

Yes, I think that's what does it for me, too. With the old ruins, you get the feeling that you're really sneaking around in an ancient place.

It depends on the inhabitants.

My characters prefer natural surroundings and avoid "civilization" as much as possible (they'd also argue that "civilization" is considerably less civilized than nature, but that's another topic).

They like to study mystic creatures, especially since they are one themselves. However, such creatures may be in caves, forts, or ruins. Generally not in mines, though, I guess... and the blasted, annoying Goblins seem to like mines (ugh!)

Easily Ayleid Ruins for me. I find things like that fascinating, these old structures that were built and inhabited by people that are now long gone. It's fun to learn of their culture, plus the Ayleid ruins are lovely in their own way. That's a big part of why I'm a fan of the Dwemer in TES as well. I've always gone out of my way to learn every bit of information I could about the Dwemer.

Forts would be second. They have a very nice ambiance to them and they're always interesting.

I’m partial to forts. They often have good light, plenty of room to move in the corridors, and decent footing. Fort Strand is a special favorite, as it’s convenient to the shops.

Yep. Forts are just so darn nice and cozy. Anywhere that has fireplaces must be nice, right? http://i668.photobucket.com/albums/vv43/Acadian6/ScreenShot825.jpg

I prefer forts too. They tend to contain interesting enemies.

I prefer the Ayleid ruins because I really like the atmosphere of mystique inside of them. That and my mod setup allows me to find some pretty neat loot in them. :)

Fort ruins are in close second, because who doesn't love a romp through a crumbling castle dungeon?

I don't really like caves that much because the tiles are too blocky and artificial-looking. This makes the caves look really unnatural.

Caves would be a lot more cool if they had stalagmites and stalactites.

Forsts for me. I think I like the history of them and the loot is usually quite nice.

I'm usually a bigger fan of forts, but it doesn't really matter to me. My three favourite sites to raid are all actually a different kind of dungeon (Sercen, Fort Alessia and Rockmilk Cave), so the setting doesn't matter to me as much as the amount of time put into dungeon diving versus the reward.

i choose ayleild ruins because they got a lot style, awesome traps and are (almost) save to live in (by that i mean sleapin, item storerage and that the traps will protect u(or hurt u)). | caves: just some out hollowed caverens with traps. | mines: the same thing with caves, only difference is that u can find gold and/or silver nuggets. | forts: pretty good but a bit lame, simple traps, and not safe to live. thats my conclusion

Aleyid ruins for me, followed by Forts. Caves and Mines were fun but bland, although I always found good loot in some caves at higher levels.

That was indeed a nice pic of Buffy! You can see how she contemplates her recent adventures by the fire, still ready for the eventual skeleton :)
Do you remember where the shot was taken?

Definitely forts for me. I've always been attracted to the rugged, medieval feel.

Not positive, but looking through her notes, it was fairly recent and I believe inside Fort Homestead.

Ayleid Ruins are my favorite. Considering my character is a primarily stealth class, there are so many nooks and crannies I can hide in. Not to mention the diversity of enemies in the ruins. It's like I'm playing an NES game where the first floor has relatively weak enemies and the last few are quite hard to kill.

But my close favorite are forts. Forts seem more like a combat oriented dungeon rather than a somewhat spooky vibe you get from Ayleid ruins. Most forts are straight forward and I usually go to forts to improve my sneaking(not the skill, my experience with it) or simply kill everybody inside and loot their armor.

Hey, an assassin's gotta eat :)

I voted for Aleid ruins because they have some great loot, but forts would be a close second. The traps and things in Aleid ruins scare me quite a lot.
