Favourite things about Consoles?

Post » Mon Feb 02, 2009 2:55 am

In light of all the negativity surrounding consoles, i'd like to see some positivity! So what's your favourite things about your console/s? No negative posts, they'll be removed! :)

My 360: It's quick - By the time i've sat down, gotten comfortable and flicked the TV on, it's ready to go! Second, i like it's comfort and simplicity - You put the game in and tap the go button all from the comfort of you couch. Slip your headset on, invite a friend to a chat and you're good to go with VOIP. Lastly, it's cheap - the 360 is extremely cheap to buy and the gaming quality you get out of it for how old and cheap it is really is quite fantastic.

My PS3: BluRay - Hello hi-def movies and gaming console in one! Browser - It's great to be able to show friends hilarious Youtube clips from the comfort and accessibility of your lounge room. Power - Whilst i've always been a fan of my 360 moreso, i've certainly seen the PS3 push out some brilliant graphics and it's a platform that is constantly being mastered by developers who are harnessing more and more power out of it's potential.

What do you like about yours? :)

Xbox: Prefer the Gamepad over PS3, Live is the best, most Multiplat games that are ported to the Xbox are better looking and better overall.

PS3: Killzone 2, and lots of exclusives.

Well, PS3 is my favourite console since I've played the original Playstation. So I do have a history with atleast 3 consoles (Excluding the PSP, which I also own).

I like 360, but I've never grown fond of it, due to the fact that we have to pay for online. But they say online is much more premium than PS3, so I guess there's one reason for it being good.

Plus, PS3 has quite a load of exclusives.

1. The price.
2. Ease of use.
3. Exclusives. Uncharted 2 goty 2009
4. User base. I can play with all my friends.
5. Bluray. Pop in a movie and your good to go.
6. Folding @ Home. Put that CPU to good use. ;)

That's why I like the Playstation 3. :)

No worrying about the console being outdated, hardwarewise, you always kow what game you can play by just looking at the box color...

After doing a lot of research between PC and Xbox, I think a lot of people got the major difference in this thread. The main thing that stands out as a Pro on the console side is ease of use. Everything on the console is optimized. I think things are slowly changing and it seems like the consoles are becoming more PC like and vise versa. My Xbox is a lot smarter and complex than my old 64 or even my PS1. I'm not just talking about capabilities or power, the UI is a lot bigger and customization is boundless. This seems to be a trend IMO with the ability to log into social networks like Facebook and home theater databases like Zune and Netflix. In an effort to simplify the UI, Microsoft has created the Kinect which is supposed to be a more intuitive way to navigate your dashboard and media.

So as the two systems on both sides of the spectrum (Xbox and PC) slowly begin to converge, this only supports our eventual creation of the technological singularity.

Hopefully Bill Gates, in his infinite wisdom will turn at the last second in this galactic game of chicken and save us all. Or at least steal the idea from someone else.

I like to play online shooters. Console is the way to go because each and every player are on the same rig. No advantage/disadvantage. I love my PS3 for the free firmware updates keeping me up to date.

PS3: Well, I have a PS3, but I'm afraid I can't find anything good to say about it.

Wii: Nintendo actually understand that games are meant to be fun, and that the best grpahics in the world can't make a bad game good. There are very few games I've played that make me genuinely happy, and most of them are Nintendo.

The main things I like about console gaming (PS3) is the feel of a controller over a keyboard and a mouse, and also sitting / laying comfortably while playing games :P

... absolutely unbelievable.

Just deleted 6 posts in a row of negative spam. Shows quite clearly that people don't even bother to read even the first paragraph in a thread.

Grow up and cut out the spam or you'll have your posting privileges removed as well as your posts.

Lets see... I don't know really. I was playing PS3 yesterday. I had gotten this Gaming PC 2 weeks ago. But damn, I found it boring on PS3! haha. I agree with the statement made earlier:

That makes an excellent point I had forgotten about. But I still love my keyboard and mouse. And even if I don't have the same hardware, its still fun :)

Some kind of breakfast cereal?
Stop making up words.

But anyway, splitscreen. 2 mates, a good game and beer - nothin' better.

From what I remember, the PS3 can allow Keyboard and Mouse support. It's a pity I don't know any games that make use of it. :(

I hope some games in the near future could have support for keyboard and mouse. It would be a nice alternative for those who aren't use to the controller. :)

personally, I prefer the xbox controller over mouse & keyboard and the ps3 controller. Okay you don't have the same amount of precision as a mouse but I think it feels way more natural especially for fps games. The consoles are always reliable and you don't get frame rate drops like the pc. Whenever you play, you know it will play the same way each time.

You CAN hook up a Xbox360 controller to a PC and then put the PC settings on medium so it has a stable frame rate like a console.

Only got a ps3 and i love it!

- every one got the same system and only your internet speed is different.
- easy acces to demo`s and exclusives.
- blue ray!
- easy 2 use web browser.
- Vidzone (free music)
- import music from cd to your playstation.

your next statement is true.

Easy access to demos and exclusives. The PC is as well.

You can order a blu-ray player for your PC.

I could never get used to the web browser but I love firefox.

You can piratem music, or use pandora on the PC.

Same with on PC.

But still good reasons nonetheless.
