Favourite 1H weapon

Maces because every extra bit of damage counts. Perk wise, I'm reluctant to invest in those tied to a specific type of weapon

I didn't add dagger as it's more something a stealth character specialises in and there are also no perks in the 1H section for daggers. I also basically just made the topic to help me decide what to use and I had already decided no daggers

Sword
Mace
Sword

I prefer speed over strength.
And If you have met delphine and gone back to her little 'lair' I guess, there is the Blades Sword on the wall rack to the right of entering, that may only appear after so many quests, however I thought I'd let you know because it's awesome :D

:EDIT: I wrote blades katana

Sword
War Axe
Sword

I love my trusty Steel Sword for dealing with smaller foes such as bandits, wolves and skeevers, I also keep a Steel War Axe to deal with trolls, bears and sabre cats.

I have already gave my reasoning for not including dagger, I understand they are very strong combined with stealth I know this because of my stealthy assassin kahjiit, but I'm concentrating on warrior builds

Daggers don't have a dedicated perk, but the do benefit from one-handed damage bonuses and skill. So. They're really not an "assassin only" weapon. The sneaky *15 attack is nice and all, but daggers really don't need it. They do 3/4 the damage of a sword, and attack twice as fast. They don't have the same kind of "oomph" that heavier one handed weapons do, but if you can knock your enemy off balance with a shield bash or a shout or something, the dagger will let you get in a dozen slices before they recover.

Anybody who dismisses them as being only for sneaky characters really needs to give them a try! *Especially* if you find/make one with a nice enchantment.

Though I do wish the dagger attack style was more... dagger-like. Daggers are stabbing weapons almost exclusively.

Like the look of the axes, love the way you put them to your belt/pull them from there, rather than just use the same animation you'd use for a sword.

Yep....the Redguard quest in Whiterun I believe.

Spoiler
After helping the guy kill the woman he was looking for, I killed him and took his scimitars. Haven't found a better one hander since then, plus they look badass.

I've seen one in a weapon rack somewhere, but I can't remember where it was.

There is also a a small overturned boat somewhere on the northern shore that has a skeleton with a Scimitar (iirc, the boat is located between Dawnstar and Winterhold)

Would it be ridiculous to specialise on 2 or all 3 1H weapon types?

I chose sword in all categories for a couple reasons...

When I play Elder Scrolls games, I am always true to my character meaning if I make a 1h sword dual-wielder then I will only find and use the best swords, selling the others. I will use nothing else. It's kind of a role-playing thing I like to do.

So reason 2 would be because I like to be more of a role-player when a character. Adding to this, I walk in normal clothes when in towns and remove my helm/hat.

I'd say it's a waste of perks.

I just have a thing for swords, all my characters ever in everything use swords.

As for perks? I can't remember exactly, but swords get a critical hit bonus perk, axes bleeding damage (damage over time, right?) and maces ignore armour?

Well as for the best, that's really a tough one. They're all good and very useful.

But I like swords, so swords it is!! Critical hits mean they die faster anyway...

And as for my favourite sword? I actually really like the look of the iron sword. Plainest and most standard, yes, but it's very viking. I like viking. But when I dual wield I like to use a sword and dagger, with the dagger in the left, or a sword and an axe with the sword in the left.
