To quote 8 bit theater, I like swords. I'm willing to forgo a little damage for the increased speed. They just feel more natural to be duel wielding.

Love the look of the war axe, but the animation for putting it away disappoints me. It's like a rent-a-cop holstering a maglight.

I think maces are the most effective for my main character(Duel wielder), but I do like swords the best. I also prefer the sword executions.

...are my favourites. (I really don't like how the Glass/Ebony/Daedric items look, and i'm not a fan of maces)

War Axe for me, aesthetically. Not sure what's best, I guess it depends on how you use it. If you're killing things fast with dual wield, I guess sword is best, if you're killing things more slowly playing defensively with a shield, I assume bleeds since you give them more time to deal their full damage.

Mace is the best, Damage/stamina, and with dual wielding perks it's still fast enough to hit first. I'm using swords because I like the animations and models better.

Swords, since they fit my character the best. she's a sneaker, so she'll creep up and slit a throat if she can.

I haven't seen how that works with a mace/axe. Do you bury it in the poor sod's cranium?

Haven't seen any scimitars yet, is it them redguards that have them? Haven't don't that quest yet.


Also has anyone found kitanas? (I'm not that far in, I keep starting over with new characters)

With so many weak enemies littering the dungeons, I felt like the only logical choice was the fastest possible weapon. I don't need more damage - I just need the first swing to connect as quickly as possible. On tougher enemies, I feel like the faster swings translate into more "interrupts" of their abilities, which is probably also more important than more damage per swing.

All of this is just my gut intuition from limited melee experience, so I could be way off base.

I just like that I finally can use all 3.... add short swords in a DLC or Expansion and we are set.

No love for daggers? They aren't very powerful, but they are FAST. Enchanted daggers in particular are pretty brutal.

Welcome to "next generation", where the increasing fidelity requirements reduce the number of things we can actually have. Morrowind had:

Tanto, Wakizashi, Katana, Dai-katana
Short sword, broad sword, saber (some), clubs
Throwing knife, Throwing star, Throwing dart, Crossbow
Spears, Halberds, Staves (for hitting), clubs

All gone.

If you couldn't compare polygon count and purely worked from a feature list, Morrowind sounds like the game that is nearly 10 years newer :P

I think mace with armor penetration has the best perk. Too bad that it has slow animation and most of kill animations with it are just horrible (same for axe).

Only the sword feels like it's been throughly completed in terms of production value.

Swords just look better, axe animations are kinda nice but sword wins. Mace is hands down the best perk (Its not RNG and its not over time) but they just dont feel good when hitting enemy's with them. Sword perk realy is the weakest, RNG is just a bad thing IMO. (its ok when dualwielding though, plenty of hits going on!)

I'm pretty fond of swords, at least on my main and current paladin style character. Dawnbreaker is a beautiful weapon, its shiny, its sharp, it makes undead explode. Still struggling to find armour that I'm happy with thou.

Yep....the Redguard quest in Whiterun I believe.

After helping the guy kill the woman he was looking for, I killed him and took his scimitars. Haven't found a better one hander since then, plus they look badass.

I've seen one in a weapon rack somewhere, but I can't remember where it was.
