Favourite Weapon Type

Post » Sat May 22, 2010 4:23 pm

I'm sure this has been asked plenty of times, but I'm curious. I've only just started playing the game, and I went with the small guns option with my first character. But there's something that just draws me to big guns; every time I pick one up I just go nuts with it, so I'm wondering if I'm leaning that way instead. Not found much love for energy ones yet; they seem underpowered and not explodey enough...

And within the categories, what are your favourite individual weapons; whether that category is your favourite or not?

Explosives. There's something so satisfying about blasting a dozen Raiders to Kingdom Come with a Nuka Grenade and I never go anywhere without at least a dozen mines. Go through Megaton sometime in the dead of night and place mines in front of all of the doors. Go to the top of Simms' house and wait until morning. I dare you to not enjoy the results.

Small guns, with melee second place. Those are the two weapon types I tend to use the most.

And ghouls, that's an awesome idea! Too bad I blew up Megaton... I'll have to find another settlement to try that on. :D

I like small guns the best. All of the best (IMO) and most famous unique weapons are small guns. Laser weapons are somewhat underpowered. You don't start to get anything good from energy weapons until you can get plasma weapons. The tri-beam laser rifle is pretty cool too though. It's almost like a laser shotgun. I can understand why you like big guns. How can it not be fun to blow stuff up with a HUGE gun? Just wait till you get your hands on the MIRV

Based on Ghouls' post I think you should add explosives to the poll.

Explosives added. Haven't used them much myself, so probably not aware of the uses.

And speaking of explosives, I was doing some reading about the Nuka Grenade, and it gave me a more general question about schematics.

If you build the weapon, explosive or whatever with the schmeatics, do they disappear from your inventory and you have to buy/find them again?

Or can you use one (or three) set(s) to build infinite stuff, providing you have the components?

explosives all the way!!

it feels so great to blow up a group of raiders with a nice little grenade...

and big guns is nice too. me lovees fat man with some mini nukes.

it would be awsome to make a bomb out of a miny nuke. with a nice little detonator... it would be sneak, sneak, sneak in a building placing some mini nukes going out pushing the nice red button and going back in to find utter carnage :-p too bad i play on PS3 of i would have downloaded a mod for that.

if you talking about the schematics itself, it stays with you. if you are taking about the item like nuka grenade, it will be gone once you used it.

I am indeed talking about the former; wonderful news. I thought I'd have to find a new one each time.

Explosives. Blowing gang of those Talon jerks to bits by lobbing one or more grenades is great.

Also, there is the fun of sneaking around and strategically placing some mines.

Or blasting an Overlord with a Nuka Grenade and watching it burn in effervescent fruit flavors!

Schematics will always stay in your inventory no matter how many times you use them.
